Help with old CCTV camera - analog

Recommended Posts

Hello

I'm a newbie to the forum and CCTV, so any help welcome.

I recently bought a used CCTV camera - Honeywell hi-res dome type. Model is HD3VC4HRAX. The unit has two cables. One I know is power, the other I expect is video. This second cable has a BNC fitting.

My question is this. Can I simply attach a BNC to 'phono' (RCA?) adaptor to the BNC cable and connect this to the 'video in' into my TV?

FYI, the spec states video output as 1.0Vpp, 75 ohm unbalanced.

I have tried to connect. Although the TV receives a signal, it's not really a picture, just lots of wavy lines. Do I need something in-between before I can connect it to 'video in'?

Thanks in advance.

Like vin2install says, that SHOULD work just fine... if it doesn't, something is probably faulty, be it the camera, the adapter, the cable, or the TV. My money would be on the camera in this case...
