Fixed dome Camera = Fixed Lens Camera?

Recommended Posts

I have here a client specs that says they require fixed dome camera with integral lens of 2.6 to 6mm DC Iris Lens. To my understanding, Fixed dome cameras are fixed lens cameras. So I don't get it when they mention 2.6 to 6mm DC Iris lens.... Can somebody help clarify this for me? Thank you very much.

Update: read up on it... i guess they are looking for a varifocal lens. my question now is. is there such a thing as automatic varifocal or all varifocal are adjusted manually?

"Fixed dome" as opposed to PTZ - just means you have to adjust the camera position manually, and it remains fixed after that.

Most dome cameras you find with "automatic" varifocal will be PTZs.

Yes, but some exceptions:

Sanyo Pan Focus series cameras is not "true" PTZ, but can be adjusted remotely
