bpace07 0 Posted April 29, 2011 I want to install an outdoor, home dvr system and thanks to information from reading this forum I have narrowed some of the components to the following: Avermedia EH1008H DVR 2 - CNB DBM-24VF cameras Thinking about these baluns, LTS LTA1010 (amazon) What type of power supplies will I need? emholic 0 Posted April 29, 2011 99.9% of camera issues are the power. meaning to little or to much. figure out how long your cables runs are then determine the power you will need. i like Altronix for power, US made. Nimrod 0 Posted May 3, 2011 As for cat5 or rg6 which one you use will probably come down to what you already have or what you feel comfortable using. Any ham handed dummy can pull cat5, but rg6 must not be kinked and should have a minimum radius bend of about 4“. Cat5 with baluns requires less specialty tools and rg6 requires compression tools and fittings. You also have to look at what kind of run you have to make. Are you just coming thru walls in to your camera or are you going underground to a remote location, this will affect the cable jacket rating.
