Need help with remote monitoring my DVR

Hello All, First Post here.

I have a 16 camera DVR, that has an Ethernet port, with networking.

The DVR is a AVC777W. using Video Web Server S ver 1.1.5.5.

I can view my Camera's on my local network, using the Video Web server S.

But I am having a problem when I try to access the program remotely!

 

Here is what I have for Hardware:

My ISP is WIndstream with a ADSL/Router Modem Sagem 1704.

 

The ISP uses a Dynamic IP address, I registered with DYNDNS for a Static Ip .

 

I set up the 1704 NAT the DYNDNS , and that seems to be working ok.

 

When I type in the address bar my DVR IP address, Up comes the Program,

Any time & Any where, which asks for user name and password.

When I enter that info, the Video Web Server comes up OK, for the control of the DVR, but no CAMERA video?

 

I am sure that I am missing something in the 1704 , but I can not find any info as what else to do?

 

Anyone have any info on settings for the 1704.

When testing at home , I use Fire fox, but also can switch to IE8 or Google Chrome.

 

I use XP media edition also when testing at home.

 

Form reading other forums on the internet, I think my problem, is related to the 1704 sagemon dsl/router, not being set up as a server?

 

So I looking for more info in that area.

Try using Internet Explorer instead of Firefox or use IE Tabs with firefox

I am currently using XP, and switched to IE8, and now I can get the Video Web server , by typing in the IP Address of the DVR, and I control the DVR functions, OK!

 

But I asked a friend to connect to my DVR REMOTELY and that still fails! !!!

 

MY ISP is Windstream and I am using a 1704 SAGEMON DSL/Router, combo device.

In the ROuter set up, I have Port forwarded the DVR Port as TCP 90.

But I have not been able to connect remotely!

ive run into..

I use a different port, run up in like port 8050, or some odd number. ones around port 80 or 90, 2000, many times are blocked by internet providers. or used by some thing like Snipe, or ????

other funny thing, is you usualy can not Access a remote address from (inside) that network.

 

I always have to call my office and have some one try logging into the site im working on.

 

also adding the port to your login address many times works

 

in you web browser.

 

(example) not a real address...

 

you would put like ( http://66.222.44.44:8050 )

of course replacing your Ip address. and what ever port you chose.

 

Oh and want to find what ip is correct try this page

HI widget3d, WOW that was GOOD INFO!

i CHANGED THE pORT TO 8050, AND CHECKED MY IP ADDRESS ADDED THE Colon 5080.

And BINGO, DVR web camera server came right up!

Hello! I have a problem almost like this!

I have a dvr with cameras and the modem, sagemcom 1704 Pppoe! And I can access my dvr, which is in DMZ and static lan ip, with LAN IP but when I try to access with "example.no-ip.com" or with dyndns it access the modem! I tryed to put a different port in dvr like 8091 or 8050 and access "example.no-ip.com:8091" but then it doest access anything.

Hello nanparis, I use dyndns, for my static IP.

I do not use no ip.

 

First try the following:

forget about the NOIP or dyndns for the moment.

 

Get your IP address

set your IP address to one that the sagemon DHCP server will be able to see.

Than have a friend type in the DVR IP adress like 192.168.254.31:8050

 

the DVR port should have been set to 8050

 

And you should have set up the bridge/router Sagemon for the port 8050 to be forwarded.

let know how you do

 

when you get the Dynamic IP address working ,than you can get NOIP or dyndns to work

I've done what you said about to power off no-ip and dyndns... and then I tried to access with my ip and port 8050 but it doesn't work either... if i just put my ip i can access my modem...

and what do you mean... "Than have a friend type in the DVR IP adress like 192.168.254.31:8050" ?

Yes set the router port forwarding to the DVR staic IP address and PORT number:

 

I use dyndns for static IP, , I aksed my friend to bring up my DVR camaera,s.

He typed in my dyndns info:

 

xxxx.dydns-remote.com805X

 

and he was able to get my DVR anywhere anytime program that came with my DVR, put in user name and password, and he could vies my camera's

you ca forget all of the posts relating to configuration because your configuration is already spot on ! you have proved this by being able to see the camera page when you enter your dvr through the internet,

this problem can ocur with Avtech Dvrs and its because you need the correct codec loaded into your internet explorer so that the display can show, i would place a bet that when your screen comes up there is a good chance that the camera screen shows blank but does show a little red X in a box???

the biggest problem here is i cant exactly rember where you need to get this codec from as its been quite a while since i sorted mine so i would suggest doing a bit of googling to try and find it but i do remmber it took me a while to discover it as there seams to be little or no info available on this fault which is pretty annoying to say the least when the frustration kicks in when struggling to get things to display, also if you have an iphone there is an app available for use with this DVR called eagle eyes so you can checkout your cams anytime anywhere (there is a free version and paid version aswell) paid version only any good if you need extras like PTZ control so if your cameras are static then just take the free version.

Hi everyone

 

I also kind of have the same problem.

 

I can remotely (away from LAN) access the web page where i can type the user name and password and get into the page, there is a connect button which when clicked has to connect to all the cameras and show them on the web page but this does not happen.

 

I have port forwarded using port 2704, but i think this is not the since i can access the web page and get into, only one step is left which is to view the cameras.

 

NB: I can only view the cameras in a web page when I am inside the LAN.

 

Please assist me on this, it would be greatly appreciated.
