CNB VCM-24VF vs. EverFocus ED610/MVB

Recommended Posts

Hello,

First time post here. I haven't bought anything yet but have been looking at 8 camera DVR systems for my home. My maximum budget is $2000 and originally I was going to build my own system with a $715 8-channel EverFocus DVR with 5 of the VCM-24VF cameras for $215 each plus cables and power supply.

I just found a site selling that same EverFocus DVR (ECOR264-8D2) with 8 EverFocus ED610/MVB cameras, 8 100ft cables and power supply all for $1599. The spec's for the EverFocus cameras look really close to the CNB. Anybody familiar with these care to chime in? What is the difference between CNB "DC iris varifocal lens" and EverFocus "varifocal auto iris"? I see the CNB has 600TVL and the Everfocus has 560TVL. The EverFocus has WDR.

Basically if I go with the package deal that includes the everfocus cams, I can save about $400 and have 8 cameras instead of 5. I could use the extra cams inside if the quality is similar between the 2 brands. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance, Paul

I too would be interested in a comparison.

Dunno about there cameras, but when I asked about everfocus DVRs, many said they weren't any good. I remember reading the joke "Neverfocus".

They look more expensive than the CNBs...

well i can't comment on the EverFocus, all i can tell you is that, my whole 8 camera system is comprised of VCM-24VFs and i have to say i am extremely happy, for what i paid for each camera, i hit the lottery, these cameras have ALL the major features, at a price that is great for all...

better off with Samsung at that price range.

that neverfocus camera itself actually looks cheaper than CNB but costs more. Also its fake WDR (digital). Alot of brands are using Fake WDR now. Otherwise the specs are much the same as most TDN domes and bullets on the market today.

So its you that dubbed them Neverfocus!

If it is fake WDR, forget about that camera. If you need it get a true double-scan one.

Plus, in the description it said that to achieve the lux rating it has to set the 'sense-up' to like 256x!!

I have installed lots of everfocus cameras at work and I dont like the quality. After 2 or 3 years you will have to replace it because it is broken. Its always the power supply board that is having problem.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to shy away from what I thought was a good deal on those 8 Everfocus cameras and DVR for now. It's way too hot here in Mississippi to be crawlin around in my attic anyway. I'll keep researching and reading on this forum and will be ready to buy something this winter.

Thanks again,

Paul

Amen to that brother.

Signed,

One hot, fiberglass splintered, tee shirt ripped, knee bashin, head clunkin, charley horsed, eyeglass slippin off the nose, dehydrated, balance beam specialist, where the heck is the end of this wire askin, mofo fool that is VERY happy to have eight lines done- in the summer.

Not to mention the roof.

Wait for cooler temps. You'll be glad you did.

Dan

I spent 6 hours out in a hot yard the other day on top of ladders and crawling through the bush ... i prefer the attic to that sunburn and heat stroke ... even though i got 2 nails to the head from attic work in the past (with permanent skin/nerve damage from them).

From my 15 years as a professional security installer I found push-pull rods to greatly simplify my work in the attic. I can expand the rod in segments from the outside while I push into the attic up to 33 feet. I currently use CEN-TECH bright yellow fiberglass rods.

From the outside, after I drill my wire hole, I push in the rod until I have pushed in ample length so once I get into the attic I can simply tie on to the rod in the center of the attic and pull the cable out. No/very little crawling is needed and you don't need a partner to help you. If crawling is needed at least I can stay in the tallest portion of the attic.
