Alternate DNS servers

Recommended Posts

Well facebook was and still is down for our entire country.

Seems they changed their DNS ... and our ISP caches probably every 24 hours.

We only really have 1 main ISP, which has most of the clients.

Anyway didnt even know this existed until now, but google has public DNS servers you could use instead of your ISP's DNS. http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns

Might come in handy sometime.

I doubt google is going down anytime soon.

There should be a list of all the free DNS services out there I had it at one time, but I usually use 4.4.4.4 and 8.8.8.8

When my company changed providers, it took nearly a week for the DNS to properly propagate across all DNS providers. Google DNS picked it up after a day or two, but some others took quite a while.
