records at night

Recommended Posts

I have a Monacor DMR-1840 set with a 162SCOL camera and also a CAMCOLMHA5. They're setup to record in case of motion. But, when the night falls, and there's nobody, both camera's starts recording. How to avoid this without changing the period the night starts and ends. The camera delivered with the set, a 150SET, works fine, same settings. Can anybody help ? Thx !

If motion detection is activated the cameras will only record if there is motion.

Maybe there are trees or something moving at night.

Also the night vision could be the reason. (It reflects IR light which the system assumes something has moved...)

Remember: Changes in lighting condition will count as a motion.

If the image is grainy at night then the DVR is probably confusing the noise for real motion. First add more light if you can. Possibly adjust camera settings for better noise reduction or better low light performance. Then look at adding better cameras. If that doesn't work then replace the DVR.

You may want to do as I have... quit using motion detection on the cameras and use PIR motion sensors as alarm inputs to your DVR.

Dear all,

In case of low lights or nights, image sensors become quite prone to such a random noises. Therefore, the sequences of videos will be treated as different video scenes each other, in mathematical sense, triggering false motion detect. Specially color video will be more affected by such a random noises.

In fact, those videos would lead to a larger recording file size for storing into HDD.

So a DVR with Night Detection mode could save you from such a false motion detection.

Also you can try No Color (Luma only Y only) mode at night.

Also, you can try to raise level of motion detection threshold, if you can.

Also, you can try on 3D Noise Reduction at night. Most of 3D NR would not be enabled in most DVR or cameras because of the blurring artifacts during daytime.
