Recommended Posts

we want to install 8 cctv cameras at 400 ft distant godown. our engineer is suggesting 8 rg6 cables to be pulled (8 * 400 =3200) to the shop where dvr is tobe kept. is there other solution . can we have more cameras on single rg6 cable? or any other solution?

use ip cameras. Ethernet is good for 328f but you can but a switch or repeater in between. 1 switch in the area with the cameras, and 1 repeater in the run to the NVR. Running that much rg6 cable is insane.

If less than 400 ft, cheaper cable can be used for analog cameras. Bu you may install a good cable of RG59, for upgrading your cameras into HD, say HD_SDI, HD-CVI, HD-TVI, whatever, in future.

If you must have analog, why not use baluns on cat5? Supply power close to the cameras if possible, but 2 runs of cat 5 will do 8 cameras. Put in extra runs of cat 5 for futureproofing.
