Please Help Somebody!!! Lasers disruppting my Cameras

Recommended Posts

Hi. Without seeing pictures or footage it's hard to tell.

But it's best to leave anything to do with your neighbours out off what might be happening with your system..

Some budget systems like swann avtech cnm. Have a store then save footage

I know the old swann and also the avtech record in blocks 20 or 30 minutes.

So it has to record for that length of time and then it time stamps. And stores

Now if your watching your dvr seeing an incident and going to your dvr and rewind to watch before it has saved then it's lost.

Give your dvr time to log and save ..... Leave for an hour before you go view footage.

Lasers. ....... If it's happening you can do some easy tests

First lasers are not invisible light you should see a red or green dot on your camera lens from outside just looking up at it.

Second . You can buy smoke in a can ( spray can ) at night walk around your home at night spray smoke in camera area and again you will see laser light (as a beam of red or green light)

But again put neighbours with laser out for a minute and look at what else can be giving you the same effect.

Hoax systems ...... Cloths dryers .... Gas heating systems can also make you think your cameras are being blinded by light. And this happends at night or early dark mornings ( like times you say having problems)

Have a look at your camera placement see if close to any heat outlet.

You just say the word, and i can come down there and we can build you a surveillance room with monitors everywhere in the room, with 24/7 Operators and upgrade your whole system to a Casino Like setup. We can also setup Analytics to read and capture Facial Recognitions. Set it up as if you were the whitehouse to were if an ant walks on your property, you will be automatically notified and Spot lights are to come on and light up the whole town lol. Money can get you any setup you need.

LMAO.... I dont think it would do any good, this neighbor is so cunning and savy that even if the poster had landmines and claymores scatter about their property, the neighbor would find a way to detonate them on the poster.

LMAOO no kidding.....

Loria, also if your camera lens is to high to the gutters or vinyl, your IRs could bounce right off of them and reflect back into the lens, seen it a lot of times. If thats the problem, point the camera down or put a junction box between the camera and overhang outside.

Man this is starting to get me curious, feeling like coming down to your house and meet your neighbors, sounds like they could be fun drinking buddies.

I'm thinking a stakeout, ill bring my hunting gear with night vision scopes and binoculars.

Also you can put you a couple IR PTZs to patrol everything. I would also strap a couple fully auto M16 on those PTZ and enable auto-track after dark so, any movement in certain areas would trigger an alarm to the DVR and back to the M16 to fire a few rounds. Man that sounds pretty cool, i have to try to build that prototype.

You might not want to do that, this neighbor is so entirely bad ass in his hacking skills that he will do this to your sidearm right as you pull the trigger. 264167_1.jpg , the guy is like neo and robocop all wrapped up into one.

LMAOO " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> Now thats a good one. Sounds like he should have been in the movie American Sniper. I should invite him down here to Louisiana and take him Duck hunting this weekend with all this great rain thats coming through and see if he can hack the thoughts of the ducks out here at Catahoula lake.

Are you sure Edward Snowden is not your neighbor? Sounds like a lot of conspiracy going on there.

Obviously this person is concerned and ridiculing them does no good! Lets be good forum neighbors.

You need to read this the whole way through. There were several people who stepped forward and laid everything out on the table for the OP. Choosing to completely ignore all of their advice is what got us here.

By the way, this thread escalated pretty quickly...I like it.

^^This^^

Not a single piece of advise was taken, and only excuses as to why it has to be the neighbor and not the OP. I am still willing to help, but, the OP has to give a little as well.

OP has not said anything about trying any of the steps any of us have advised, but given plenty of finger pointing to those evil neighbors.

I did read it all the way through! Even IF the help offered was not taken - it should NOT alter the civility of our responses.

@abdel01. I worry for you, I'm not sure you want to come over to my place and risk being called paranoid too. Because that's what's going to happen when you come over to my place and actually witness live the things that I'm trying to explain and you trying to explain it to others. I don't know if you want to be in my shoes...

Mind you, I don't think this neighbor has any extra powers, or any extra knowledge, or anything of such. I just think there is something probably very simple that they are doing that we haven't warped our fingers around. But I'm confident we'll get there. I'm working on it. After all, it was my quest to find answers that brought me here, isn't it?

No, as stated before...what you are suggesting is simply impossible...it cannot be done...there is NO way they are controlling your DVR if its disconnected from the network...You will not find any answers other than your device is defective, improperly setup or you are hallucinating the entire scenario....

Like I said before it will be much better if you leave your Neighbours out of trying to solve your problem.

You have been asked some basic questions but not answered any.

It's your system

Is your camera near anything outdoors

Are you going stright to your dvr and viewing your footage as soon as you have a problem.

If you don't trust your DVR or cameras, go to your installer and ask them to replace the faulty equipment. Furthermore, use your mobile phone to capture your 'horrible' neighbours. Only when your neighbour physical touches you to grab the phone, the video can be removed. If you don't trust modern technology, use an old fashioned video recorder....

This camera in the attachment would be intimidating for your neighbour, meaning that you are serious about it.

But wait, there is more to tell

Instead of being bad neighbours to each other (making each other life so miserably as hell) and spend another 2000 dollar for a 'useless' cctv system or for buying the video recorder, do something unexpected. Give your neighbour everyday a flower. Not just flowers, but white flowers since 'White color itself is a symbol of peace and purity' (http://www.buzzle.com/articles/meaning-of-the-color-of-flowers.html) or be multicolored.

Succes is guaranteed, make love not war " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> .

@tomcctv, The cameras are outdoors

The DVR is on continuous recording

We had previously viewed an incident right after we saw it happen and when we realized that it was being erased, We resorted to recording with our phones or iPad.

Then it was not being erased......... You need your footage to be filed by your dvr

Swann puts footage into files of 20 mins long. Each file then is given time date

If you view footage before that footage is filed it will not be filed.

Plus some swann and avtech when you go into footage the dvr will stop recording.

Ok your cameras are outside ...... Are they anywere near you hvac outlet or any other outlet with heat ?

@Loria

Thank you for giving us some information. About 10 people have suggested that you replace your DVR prior to this, all of the concerns were ignored until now. Being that you have replaced the DVR there are only 4 possible reasons why the footage would get deleted. 1.) Somebody has gained access to your network. Being that we have discussed the problem still exists with it being disconnected from the network. We should be able to rule out this possibility.

2.) Somebody has clean line of sight from a remote control and can operate the DVR through the window. Being that you have said that you are certain this is not the case, this should also rule out this possibility.

3.) User error. This is likely a problem, I am not trying to be rude (although I was poking fun earlier) but, if you are not aware of how to upload an image to a forum, you may be lacking in the technical skills required to run a sophisticated piece of hardware like a DVR. Maybe go back to your installer and ask for some training.

4.) You have the worst luck in the world and got two faulty DVRs with the exact same problem, the odds of this are about as good as being struck by lightning 3 time in a lifetime.

THERE IS NO OTHER POSSIBLE WAY TO DELETE THE FILES. The odds of your neighbor going to the trouble to learn how to do all of this, especially if he does not have a CCTV system of his own is even lower than option 4 mentioned above.

Being that you are just now bringing to light that the DVR has been replaced and the installer has checked the system out further compounds the reason people are questioning the post. Your installer should have also been able to address the laser concerns as the problem is occurring during normal business hours.

I think a lot of the reason people are questioning the post is because it seems hard to believe. Sorry for poking fun, sometimes my sense of humor trumps my sense of reason.

Location of the heat outlet in relationship to the DVR is not the issue he is concerned with.

Location of the cameras in relationship to the heat outlet is.
