Ill take a look thanks .. I kind of found something, the Sanyo Pan Focus ... has a zoom lens module .. i havent played with it yet though, still not 100% what i was looking for .. probably going to have to just look for a small PTZ. .

that looks like it might be better .. i like the exview and WDR .. i think this is a south korean dome i saw earlier this year ... either way .. thats more like what I was looking for.. .now to get one to test

New to forum and need help.

 

The question is about colou CCTV camera horizontal resolution.

For example, at 768 pixels (horizontal pixels per line array), the real single colour CCD chip resolution is approximately 70-80% of what the pixel count is. This is effect of the pixels mosaic composition, and because of the way interlaced scanning image is obtained in television.

 

Also when counting vertical lines, we count only the horizontal width equivalent to the vertical height of the monitor. The idea behind this is to have equal thickness of lines. We then have to multiply this by 3/4.

This will produce only 403-460HTVL maximum ((768x(0.7-0.8)x3/4))visual resolution.

 

Can anyone help to understand CCTV camera resolution (HTVL or pairs of lines) as listed in manufacturers Specifications (480HTVL up to 530HTVL)

Gusy we're getting off topic .. i said For Manufacturers, not from Manufacturers .. since no Manufacturer makes the dome I specked ..

Also, True Day Night domes only if you must post .. that means no 540TVL cameras as they are digital day nighters .. :wink:

 

Rory, this isn't entirely true, though you bring up a good point which is differentiating between Color/Mono and Color/Mono with removeable IR cut filter. You're correct that the HQ1 540TVL sensor system from Sony does perform digital Color/Mono performance, which doesn't actually increase a camera's low light performance. This doesn't stop MANY manufacturers from calling Color/Mono cameras "Day/Night" cameras even though they're actually not.

 

True Day/Night performance comes from either cameras that have a two sensor system, with one sensor having an IR cut filter and the other without (very rare solution), or the more common solution for the CCTV industry which is a camera that switches from color to mono in low light and ALSO removes the IR cut filter to give the camera low light and IR response. This feature is available with the HQ1 540TVL sensor by some manufacturers, so you can actually have a 540 TVL camera that is true day/night.

 

As far as your dome specs go, check out the high-level specs on my new DM2/DR2 series plastic and rugged domes. I showed these at ASIS and they should go to beta in Late December, with launches in early February 2007.

 

-Available in 520TVL (SS2), 540TVL (HQ1) or our new UltraView 3 platforms. The SS2 and HQ1 flavors will be available in color/mono AND a Day/Night version with color/mono AND a removable IR cut filter. I'm also working to make a day/night version of our UltraView 3, but that'll be later in 2007

-All will include a secondary video out that is inside the bubble, so you can tune the camera without having to fish out the the BNC connector that's meant to go to your head unit. An adapter cable that converts this second video out to BNC will be included in the box.

-All will be 24VAC/12VDC power input.

-I have redesigned the plastic dome (DM2) to be the same size as the DR2, which is also the same size as our existing DR series. This means that both new platforms will be backward compatible with most of the existing DR mounts, including the DR-RWM wall mount, the DR-EP and DR-PM pendant mounts, and the DR-OCM and DR-ICM inside/outside corner mounts.

-Both the DR2 and DM2 will have polycarbonate bubbles with a swivalable captive shroud for concealing camera position.

-Both the DR2 and DM2 will have a TRUE 3-Axis gimble

-Both the DR2 and DM2 will come with adapter plates for easy single-gang and double-gang box installation

-UTP versions will be made available in mid Q2 2007

-There are a few other cool features to the camera, but I can't discuss them yet because there are patent applications on these features that are pending.

 

This release is the culimnation of about 12 months of me asking customers at every opportunity what we could do to improve our GE Security line of plastic and rugged domes.

 

Look for news on these to come in late December 2006 or early 2007.

 

Oh one thing I'd like to know is the expected street price of the cameras you spec. Doesn't do me much good to meet your specs if my price is too high. All I ask is that you be reasonable with your price/spec requests. Don't ask me, for example, for the feature list I just provided, in a camera that has a street price of $150, because it just won't happen.

I havent read everyone elses but here is my suggestions.

 

1/ A skin that can be added to camera to blend it into the colour scheme of the roof

2/ A second output that can be used as a service monitor output or to go driectly to a monitor

3/ A detachable plug in so that you can wire the power then plug it in with one hand

4/ Lens adjustment controller extenders, simple screw ins that can be extended onto the lens adjustments so that when using a housing you do not have to reach into the housing if using a flip top lid

5/ A better design for adjusting a lens...how mnay times do you go to tighten the adjusters and then bump it out of focus...perhaps a motorised option so that you push a button and hold it on for incremental adjustments so that when you are in focus you simply take your finger off the button

6/ A camera with built in lens and movable back focus through a web interface sot hat after install you can zoom, adjust and focus remotely, this means you can do a night focus from home.

7/ A distribution amplifier built into the camera for long runs

8/Cameras that look like lighting fixtures to make it look neat.

9/ A plug in device that can handle 232 data for text overlay, so that you can run a converted 232 to 485 on two wires to a camera from a register and overlay at the camera itself.

10/ Dip switches on the top of the camera so that flip lid housings can be used to allow easy changes.

11/ Upgrades and settings changed over the coax cable from the DVR end by running 485 data on a different frequency on the coax cable

12/ Digital zoom, breaking the image on the CCD into 4 zones then when movement is detected in a zone..by the camera.....then it zooms in one level and centralises the zone that had activity in the middle of the screen.

13/ Area programable BC but several areas all set to different levels

14/ Dynamic Shutter that adjust according to light level

15/ Digital LUX reader to show the lux level that the CCD is recieving

I have seen a couple of people deal with solar like me. This sets up a whole different range of requirements for a new segment of the market. I am spending $50k just to get two cameras into the field so there is money in it for any camera developer. I am in the safety and productivity arena not security. So the rules are slighly different. The industry is mining so it is a big new market for the cctv industry.

 

Here's what we need.

Low weight, as we are mounting the camera on masts. We are leaning towards pneumatic masts and steering away from climable masts. so low weight is important. I am about to order 2 x 15m with 40kg head weight. The cost of these are $30k each.

 

Low power. 24AC is just out of control for Solar power. I have to build sky lab to power 2 cameras.

 

Powerful zoom. We are looking up to 4km away.

 

CC direct to digital. Analogue is as good as dead for IP customers. simplify and remove the analogue legacy.

 

Upgradeable Codec.

 

So our biggest constraint is power and weight. I spent $120k on a camera project with just 5 cameras. But the cameras themselves are only worth $4k. I justify the expence by using the synergy of the remote trailers for other IP projects. I have just had another $70k approved for refirbishment of 2 remote trailers and $300k for 2 new trailers. The only thing stopping me buying 30 cameras is the weight and power consumption.

Any chance you could post a picture of the problem?

 

If its a dark corner in all four corners of the screen it sounds like you have the wrong lens on (cant remember which way it is, but you get that with wrong sized lenses, like a tunnel effect round the edges)

spherical lens are easier to get into this problem.

btw provided somebody wanna set up the surbeillance system for a region as wide as the football field,what kind of lens should be installed?

You wont be able to get a evidential quality pic of any crimes using just one camera covering a football field sized area with normal cctv cams. You would need a specialist multi mega pixel camera, or a full time manned pan tilt zoom setup, or multiple normal cctv cams.

I am a student consultant for a firm who is looking to offer a component to camera manufacturers which would serve to add the following benefits to non-Smart Cameras. The benefits include:

 

 

-The system is simple to train (no programming required; anyone who can point-and-click can train the system)

 

-It can generalize on the training examples to recognize things that are the same or similar to the trained examples (this is a difficult feat for current systems to accomplish)

 

-It can learn an image fragment and find or track that fragment (or similar fragments) in later images (this, also, is a difficult feat for current systems to accomplish)

 

-It can report where and when it finds a match, as well as what that match is

 

 

Would this be something that you as purchasers would have interest in? Thank you for your feedback!

It is very difficult to find a perfect camera,

At fist, every person has different standard about define about it.

maybe most people simply consider that more functions stands for more advanced and perfect, acctually not, the better products are needed to continuous to modify, we are a video door phone producer, and many customers form US, Canada, EU, needs customize products, they confirmed about our products' quality first, and then they will do little modification about external case to appear their customers, usually the products sell hot in our country, but they feel it is very urgly, on contrary, what we think it is urgly, but they would like to order thousands of them, amzing?

I have a customer that likes them... and they spec pretty nice for the price. But if posting that as another option for a waterproof camera it's only IP66, not IP68.

NO I prefer these buggers

got 3 on a car yard with dt's in the yard triggering cams to move on motion covers whole yard and u get 2-3 cams looking from different angles at scene on motion,

 

Im looking for a supplier, as the one I got sold me counterfeit cards, so cant trust him

I still like the GE CyberDome

 

And to Sue, yes thats nice too, I would like even just a regular mini Vandal Dome with Zoom and auto focus that lets us change all the settings through our own software .. could then do that over the web ... sweet

 

As for PTZs, most give you the protocols for them.
