Knocking sound when viewing Hikvision DS-2CD2432F-IW

Hi, does anyone have any idea what could be causing this knocking sound when viewing the camera and playback? The cam is running firmware 5.1 and i just noticed i cannot successfully format the memory card. I'm going to update the firmware and buy a new card in a day or two.

 

Could it be interference from an electrical source?

I have answered but it's waiting moderation possibly a link I put in. From what I read, some people do have issues with firmware on this model, notably when buying an import model and then using english firmware.

 

Is that all you get, or is that noise over any audio that is present?

 

Some people seemed to have fixed their audio problems by re-flashing with FW v 5.2.5

I'm hoping to do further testing this weekend and update firmware - it's an English cam bought from a UK distributor so all good on the firmware front.

 

I did notice adjusting the mic volume increases and decreases the volume of the noise (yes i'm pulling at straws here) yet the room the camera is in, is dead silent.

I am facing the exact same issue with the constant knocking sound, but with DS-2CD2412F-IW. Were you able to resolve it finally?

 

The strange part is that it worked fine for almost an year and then one fine day, I started getting this knocking sound. The firmware was always at 5.1.2 and I hadn't touched its settings or upgraded the firmware all this while.

 

However, since I started getting this noise, I have tried updating the firmware to the latest 5.3.0 (5.1.2 -> 5.2.0 -> 5.3.0) and tried all available audio encodings, but to no avail. I get this knocking sound in both iVMS-4500 iPhone app and when viewing via WebComponents/Quicktime plugin in Safari on Mac OS X.

 

I also tried to change the location of the camera to check if it was the wind noise or due to electrical disturbance from the particular socket it was plugged in to, but the result was the same. I bought the camera from a Hikvision authorized vendor.

 

Can someone please help?
