MPEG4/H-264 Compression

Hi

 

Just wondering when dvrs say they have MPEG4/H-264 compression, what do they mean, how do they have a bit of both or is it just bluff

They are both the same, h264 is identically specced to mpeg 4 part 10 standard, according to wikipedia anyways

Just different technical standard names for the same protocol, but its letting you know which version of mpeg 4 its using, as there are probably more than one type I guess.

Depends on the DVR, you can have an option to use either one .. where H.2674 will give you around double the time ... lower quality though due to higher compression .. better for remote video though for lower speed connections and/or lots of cameras.

The file size of a compressed image with H.264 is about 30 ~ 50% lower than one with general MPEG4, if those have same image quality.

If image size is dropping 30%, how about the quality of the full sized images.

 

Has anyone experience with H264 systems?

Which ones are spectacular in quality?
