Migrating from Analog to IP cameras

Recommended Posts

Hello,

my home surveillance system is currently based on Hikvision DVR-108G-F1 with 7 Analog cameras. One of the cables is cut, so I am thinking of gradually migrating to IP cameras since they have better quality and the ethernet cable is much easier to handle.

My question is since my DVR supports IP cameras, can I buy any model I want or am I restricted to the compatible IP camera list in the manual?

Thank you

If your DVR can handle IP cams and is Onvif compatible, you may have some options with other cameras that are onvif compatible as well.  That said, it is usually better to use products from the same company (or at least the same manufacturer) as they tend to work much better together and should allow for the same functionality.
