Should I demand CCTV be installed

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am new here.

So where I work has no CCTV which I never really thought about before but sometimes I work on my own. The other night someone was ringing the intercom. I presumed it was just a drunk

person so ignored it but they persisted. When I answered and said hello they didn't say anything. Eventually, after answering several times they just said hello. I looked out the window and saw a

man who had a backpack which didn't make any sense if they had been out drinking but just presumed it was still a drunk person and they eventually left. I say they left but I can't actually see as

it's pitch black as the business park I work in has no lights on at night. They used to but that stopped months ago. I can't even see my own car in the car park. Hours later the intercom rings again

and it's the police. They told me they've had reports of someone trying to break into places. The police were hoping I'd have CCTV I could give them. I'm just thinking what if I'd opened the door and I'm on my own? I just think CCTV would at least provide reassurance and now I'm also thinking about the other people I work with who are on their own sometimes as well.  I've now raised this with my manager and his manager. Not entirely convinced they're actually going to do anything but at least I've raised it in case anything does happen. Upvote 19 Downvote 6 comments Share

Whether or not to demand CCTV installation is a decision that depends on your specific situation and needs. Here are some factors to consider:1. Security: If you feel unsafe in your home, workplace, or community, installing CCTV cameras could give you added peace of mind and deter crime.2. Privacy concerns: CCTV cameras can be intrusive if they capture footage beyond their intended scope. Be sure to understand the legalities of installing cameras before demanding them.3. Cost: Installing CCTV systems can be expensive, so weigh the benefits against the cost of installation and maintenance.4. Legal requirements: Depending on where you live or work, there may be legal requirements for installing security cameras.5. Alternative solutions: There may be other ways to address security concerns without resorting to camera surveillance; for example, investing in better lighting or hiring more security personnel. Ultimately, whether or not to demand CCTV installation should be based on carefully considering your specific circumstances and priorities.

Love bad scammers….. how on earth can it be cheaper to employ security personnel than to install a good cctv system

cctv buy once …. Security personely is a large monthly charge and no records like cctv offers
