Xp home and Dvr card software

Recommended Posts

Do you mean can you use XP home instead of XP Pro?

if so yes should not be an issue, though personally Ive only ever used XP pro.

But essentially they are the same minus a couple admin features in the pro version.

You can also use MCE, cheaper then pro but allows RDP in.

You have to disable all the MCE services as they interfer with the capture cards but otherwise smooth.

RDP is Remote Desktop, and UVnc is Ultra VNC ..

They are like PC Anywhere basically.

You can control the PC as if you are n front of it.

uvnc seems like a smart idea to install on client's computers, if they will allow it. You'd have to have certain ports (5800 or 5900) opened or port forwarded to the system. Do you pro's often rely on this (RDP or UVNC or PCAnywhere) for service issues?

Yes i use Uvnc.

If I was doing it religiously, I would set up their Relay server also.

And they have a Quick Click program on their site, which means the server is not actually installed on the host's PC. They download, click to run it, you connect, do your thing, then disconnect, and it doesn't stay running on the host.

All my servers are preconfigured for TightVNC and RDP and the Geovision terminal services if it's a Geovision system.

I prefer RDP, however VNC is the choice for customer training as you can share user sessions with it.
