Dome cameras for a nightclub - specifications?

Recommended Posts

I dont have the equipment or experience to judge LUX levels.

I wondered what features you would recommend for a dome camera in nightclub conditions.

Most cameras will be covering the staff / client line of transaction.

Recording at 4CIF 640x480.

I should add, Im in the "getting over the IR dome" phase.

Hope to get some hands on experience in:

What scenario needs what lux rating.

What light level demands B+W over colour.

When I need WDR and when I dont.

get yourself a lux meter they start at $50

Everyone seems to be giving IR Illumination a bad wrap on domes etc

you need to adjust the them to stop bleed and control the power level

a dome like the EX40 is amazing if you set it up right. crisp clear pics

in complete darkness.

this clubcam stuff mmm must be using alien technology -or sony ex-views ?

Thanks zmxtech, spytown.

Its people like me using cheap built-in IR cams that gives it a bad name.

Looking into clubcam and adjustable IR. Cheers.

Nightclubs? BW is the real only option for high quality video, in most cases you will never require IR.

I use IR Cameras for the front door, back door, office door, and an ATM if they have one. I use inexpensive mini B/W cameras for pool table, table area, and bar area. The bars and nightclubs that can not afford $16,000.00 for 16 cameras really appreciate these cameras!

The drawback is that you need the beer neon signs, pool table lights, rope lighting, and other low light sources to make it work effectively.

I have found no picture difference with the plain jane model verses the xtra low lux version. (ECL 374 verses ECL 360X).

We do use a Color Vandal Dome at the main entrance, and a color pro box camera in the car park, but the client provides ample lighting, so its almost like daylight. We can then track them in the club with the BW cameras, and the color dome is zoomed in at the narrow entrance to capture their face. The car park cam is for the cars, as people have come before to try to burn the place down, and we wanted the color of the vehicle.

Tried many different low light cameras in the club though at the bars, dance floor etc; color, color exview, extreme CCTV cameras, color IR, True Day Night w/ and w/o IR, and neither was satisfactory for quality; hence BW was the winner.

Only one bar where I needed IR, and thats because BW did not work in the very low light they had there at the bar itself, it was a "sweetheart" type bar, where the clients come to hide from their other half

We use B/W cameras for Night Clubs.

Actually we use Watec WAT-902H3 Ultimate with manual Iris Lens.

Resolution: 570TVL

Minimum illumination: 0.0001 lx. F1.4(2), 0.0002 lx. F1.4(3)

Hi, what type of enclosure do you use for it?
