remote controls conflicting with multiple dvrs

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Two geovision systems in one room, both have remote controls. What do you guys suggest I do, since one remote controls both systems at the same time. I was thinking of a device similar to a kvm that connects one keyboard to two computers through a switch, except instead of the keyboard the receiver, to be able to select between the dvrs. Or is there a simple solution I am overlooking?

Thanks all!

You can get different channels of the remote controls A / B / C / D,

You can use channel A for system 1 and channel B for system 2.

You would then have 2 remote controls working independent of each other, one for either system.

so I would have to purchase another remote that works on a different channel? there is no way to configure the remote to work on another channel?

I have had some success in the past with narrowing the beam from a remote control so that it doesn't "spread". To do this, I used a piece of heat shrink around the LED. The heat shrink has to almost completely cover the LED with just a narrow tube of it past the LED allowing the IR light through. It makes aiming critical and you still have to watch out for reflections bouncing the IR around to multiple receivers but it does work. We used this method in our casino to change VCR settings for one unit at a time back when we used VCR's.
