  1. My point was that the 5611 is rated for cold temperatures which tells me that it wouldn't be damaged by your wimpy weather.
  2. When it comes time for a replacement you may want to consider the 5611. With 12V power it is rated to -22F. This is the first winter for mine and so far it has funtioned without issue at -15F

    Where to buy ACTI kcm5611

I have had good experiences purchasing from B&H as well. Responsive customer service and haven't had an issue returning items.
  4. I would rather see the product launch a few months late than see it launch early with tons of problems. In my experience Axis do a pretty good job of testing this stuff out. I'm just relaying what the rep told me, that they are shipping in October. Not that they are shipping Q3 or Q4, but October specifically is what he relayed to me. I hope you are correct as I have been waiting for this camera to be released for some time now. In August when I asked them why their initial press release stated they would be released in 2nd quarter I was told they would be out in August. When I inquired in August they said September, now they say October. Hopefully their problems are due to manufacturing and not design.
  5. Originally they were to be released in 2nd quarter. Then it was August, then it was September, now it's October. Given their track record I wouldn't hold your breath.
  6. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced (under $1000) underwater IP camera? I don't know why but I have this desire to be able to watch my goldfish swimming around in my backyard pond. Maybe it's just the challenge of being able to accomplish it. I have power nearby or could do POE. Has anyone done anything like this?
  7. There are a couple of main differences. 1. The 5611 has a larger sensor 5.42mm x 3.1mm vs. the 5311E at 3.84mm x 2.4mm. 2. The zoom ratio is 18X optical for the 5611 vs. 35X optical for the 5311E. So the 5611 has a larger sensor size while the 5311E has a larger zoom ratio.
  8. I could live with a little noise if I could actually see something. The TCM-7811 has an IR working distance of 40 meters. The distance to the center of the light on the driveway in my image above is less than 10 meters. ACTi touts the CCD sensor and minimum illumination of 0 lux in B/W. They also post a beautiful nighttime video on their website. Yes there is other illumination in the video but I feel I should be getting a better image than what you see in my post above. It looks like kifaru is getting close but there has to be a problem with mine.
  9. Well, ACTi has adjusted my camera and they tell me everything should be okay now. I must say I'm very disappointed. My $199 Foscam easily out performs this camera. This was my first ACTi purchase and I guess I expected much better performance.
  10. ^^ I am on the current firmware update and am using a PC for monitoring. I would love to see a night time photo with your replacement if you could post one.
  11. kifaru How was this resolved for you? I am having the same issue with my TCM-7811. I also can see that the LED's are on at night and I am using the settings recommended by ando. My night performance isn't nearly as good as yours. My old Foscam is clearly outperforming the ACTi at this point. I also bought this camera based on the good night performance as shown on the ACTi website. I have opened a ticket with ACTi but haven't received a response as yet. (only been a day) Until this is resolved my trusty old Foscam is standing guard
