    I bought a $800 Lorex setup and the DVR puked the next day. Power went out and its inop. I want a system I can do myself. I would like it to allow local access via PC.

    Turns out that this is common. If you're lucky you only have to reformat the hard drive. Their solution is to buy an UPS. Soooo not happy . I guess you get what you pay for.

    We had a power outage. Came home, no display. Power light on, fans on, HDD light off. Cannot remote in. No link light on NIC. Fear its dead. I've had it less than 24 hrs. I just set it up last night and I was using an "OK" APC surge protector. All other electronics in the electronics in the house work. Opened it up and no fuses. Looks like firmware is not booting. Any ideas? Opened a ticket w Lorex but they take daaaayyss to respond.
