Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this. I connect my laptop to a TV via an HDMI lead & it works well. I needed another lead so I bought one from Ebay, when I connect it it works but only for about a minute then it goes off. I've had another look on ebay & didn't realise there were so many different leads, some seem very high priced. The old lead has this written on it "AWM style 30v vw-1HDMI 1.3cable" The new one just says High speed HDMI with ethernet. I know it sounds obvious just to search for the same one as the old one, but are there any you could recommend?

Hopefully these pictures may help. Picture 1, in the bottom right corner of the 4 is the view I am getting since fitting the new cable, too bright. Picture 2,is the old cable & connections I need at the camera end. Picture 3, is the old cable & the connectors I need for the DVR end. To the left of the old cable is the new one, you can see it's thicker & I needed an adapter at the camera end to fit. I don't know if it's the adapter or the thicker cable causing the brightness? Can you please advise what cable I need & the best place to buy it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply, I bought a new cable but it came with the wrong connecter at one end, so I had to buy an adapter, but once fitted the picture is is too bright to see. I need for the DVR end a BNC fitting & a Female power fitting. The camera end is not BNC so I need 2 female fittings.

Hi Johnny, Are you recording the cameras on your computer? 3 cameras is not a lot of bandwidth unless your running a very old network. Typically its a 1-5 mbps per camera, so it is not much, but your computer might not be able to render your images fast enough. For your camera question, your will need to connect them to your router or a switch in order for them to communicate with your computer. But you can plug one camera in directly to your laptop as long as the Ethernet cable is a crossover. Thank you for the reply, I have the ability to record but I haven't used that yet & I'm not really worried about recording. The cameras are "Wanscam" fairly cheap but have lasted 2 years now & still work & the picture is of the quality I require. I'm unsure what you mean by a crossover cable? The other problem I now have is I have just bought a new laptop & it came with Windows 10 which doesn't seem compatible with the cameras, so I'm still using the old laptop to watch them.

Hi, I have 3 IP cameras connected, my son tells me that my computer may have slowed down due to these using bandwith, as they are constantly on (Something like that anyway) The 3 cameras all have a cables form them connected to my router & I view them wirelessly on my laptop. I have a spare laptop, is there any way I can connect them to the spare laptop using just the wires & not going through the router. Kind regards Johnny Brine

Hi, I have 3 Wanscam Ip Cameras, I have used wires to my router but view them on my laptop using Wifi. They all have audio but only one works properly, the other 2 have some kind of interference, I wouldn't describe it as static, it's more of a continuous regular clicking noise. I've tried turning the sound off the one that works but the other 2 still make the clicking sound. Any Ideas what this could be & how I could overcome it? Kind regards Johnny Brine.

Thanks for the reply, I would suspect it's the mini cable that came with the kit, it is a very small diameter, probably 2mm at the most. There are 2 wires inside, one is for the power & the other I presume for the picture. The reason I asked is it worked at the the start but now I have no picture again, just a blue screen, so I suspect the join has come undone.

It is from my DVR to the camera, there are 2 wires inside, one I believe is to the power, it has BNC Connector at each end. I have managed to twist them together & used electrical tape & it works, but wondered if there is a better way of doing it, more permanently. I did buy another lead but the picture is too bright using the new cable, this is why I joined the old one.

Hi, I accidently cut through my CCTV wire from the DVR to the camera, i managed to repair it by twisting & taping up up, but is there a better way to join them, other buying a new cable?

Hi, I have a DVR? which I have 4 cameras connected to, unfortunately whilst clearing up the garden I accidently cut through one of the leads to a camera. I sent off for another lead it has a power & a BNC fitting but after refitting the new lead the picture is too bright despite adjusting the brigthness/contrast. The only difference I can see is the power connector is Red, the old one was black, but it's still connected to the DVR power supply the same & I had to get a BNC female/male adapter. Is it the lead that is the problem

Thank you for this, I checked my cameras & there is no spare cable. I think what was confusing me was, I'd forgotten there was a power cable to the cameras, for some reason I thought it was just one cable, instead of the 2, it kind of makes sense now.

Thanks for the reply, Please excuse my ignorance, most of the CCTV mikes I see advertised have 2 leads a White (Audio?) & a Red (Power), do I need one that needs power or will my DVR supply the power when I plug the lead in? Where is the best place to buy what I need.?

Hi, I'm new here my name is John. I've got a CCTV recording system it has 4 cameras. I bought it from Maplins a couple of years ago, the make is CNM Secure. I'm happy with what I got, I keep Birds of prey & use the cameras in my breeding enclosure, the only thing missing is any sound. There are 4 points & I "Audio out". Hopefully I've attached a picture. Can please let me know what I need to add sound. Can I just buy a microphone & the correct leads & just plug them in, if so what type etc. Thanks in advance. John Brine
