  1. Thanks for the reply! I had actually looked into HDCVI, HDTVI and HDSDI. It seemed like people are pretty firmly entrenched in their various camp and I got a healthy dose of fear, uncertainty and doubt. From what I had read, you need to re-wire with higher quality rg59 if you had any kinks or nicks. Is that not so accurate?
  2. Hello! The time is approaching for an update to my home surveillance system and I need some advice. Currently, I have an analog 8 camera system. The system itself works just as well as it did in 2009, but my standards have gone up over the years and I'd like to get something that doesn't look awful on a 1080p screen. Is there any way I could use my existing rg59 siamese wiring? Given how quickly the IP based stuff is falling in price, I'm guessing I should just bite the bullet and re-wire everything. Is the old stuff good for anything now? Thanks!
  3. I'm not sure my specific port number info changes the software to view it, but here you go: I have a VPN connection to an internal network, the dvr is port 18004 and the foscams are port 80. The Swann is a DVR8-3200 I believe and the foscams are fi8910w. Any viewing software tips are appreciated...
  4. Hi Does anyone know of a viewing software like IP Cam Viewer for Windows? I have an 8 channel Swann DVR and a few Foscam cameras at my house that I'd like to keep an eye on. IP Cam Viewer does a fantastic job on my phone, but I haven't found anything similar for my laptop... I even tried to run an android emulator just for that one app. Not with great success I might mention... Any suggestions? Thanks!
  5. It's hard to say exactly how effective the cameras are since I don't get to interview people after they wander off. But I do have a small collection of people wandering into our carport, looking up at the camera when the motion light comes on and then walking quickly away.
