    OK thank you for the info, now all I have to do is figure out how to do what you told me lol. I assume there is a menu in the computer for this DVR, but I am not sure how to access that.

    To be clear I am turning the main switch off in the back of the DVR

    I was just trying to save some electricity and also the DVR is quite noisy due to the cooling fan running

  6. Is it OK to power off my DVR that I use for security cameras during the day when I don't need it to run? I have been told powering it on and off will shorten the life of the DVR?
