    Crimping 'Swann' cables

Sorry, analog. This is the exact model I am getting... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Swann-DVR8-1260-8-Channel-4-X-700-TVL-PRO-735-Security-Cameras-CCTV-1TB-D1-DVR-/201460974159?hash=item2ee802824f:g:Y90AAOxySoJTV6SJ
  2. Hi everyone, I thought this would be simple to find but I'm struggling. We are using swann cameras and on the cables they obviously come with video and power connectors. Previously I've just bought stock cables and ended up either a) too short or b) way too long. So I'd like to buy a reel of cable and just stick the ends on myself. Could anyone point me in the right direction for this job (crimping tools needed, correct names for the power and video ends, Youtube tutorial for the fitting). It would be a big help, thanks John
  3. Hi, thanks for the reply. On most of our DVRs that is exactly what I do 1. Turn PC date back 2. Install Active X and view cameras 3. Change PC date forward to present day 4. view cameras no problem without it asking to install activeX However, with this particular DVR whenever I set the date back to present day, it seems to forget that it was ever working and asks to install activeX again (which then fails if I haven't set my date back). Obviously I can't be expected to change my PC date every day just to look at the cameras. Is there anything else I'm possibly missing? Thanks John
  4. Hi all, I have been struggling for some time now on this but have finally stumbled upon the cause (just need a solution). I've emailed swann tech support but had no reply Basically what happens is I try to get on the cameras and then it asks me to install an ActiveX control. I agree and enter my admin password. It then says "Windows has blocked this software because it can't verify the publisher". When i click on 'Unknown Publisher' on that message I get to see the certificate and can see that it is valid from 01-May-2012 to 01-May-2015 (today being 21-Oct-2015) so the certificate has obviously expired. If I change my PC date to be sometime in this date range (01-Jan-2015 for example) then it lets me install the activeX and I can see the cameras. None of the suggestions about tweaking IE's settings work for me and only changing the PC date lets me view the cameras. Would anyone know if there was a way to 'fix' this certificate so I don't have to mess about with my (and more importantly, my staffs) PC date each time I want to view the CCTV? The unit I am using is Swann DVR4-1425 and I'm on Win 7 64bit Professional with IE10. Thanks very much for any help on this. John
  5. Hi everyone, first post here. I would like some advice on which camera system to go with at home. My budget is around £50-£100 and ideally the spec should be as follows: 1. Internal Storage but accessible remotely. 2. 24/7 recording 3. Wireless preferred but wired isn't a big problem I've been Googling a lot for this but he vast majority of the websites out there don't make it clear if their camera stores recordings (or just live images) and if it does store video, how you access it. Any advice is greatly appreciate, Thanks John
