  1. Isn't ZoneMinder more like a recorder? And as far as I know, it is only webbased and using JPG (only some frames per seconds, not fluent) . I mean the main focus is simply to display the live stream - as far in realtime as possible and as smooth as possible and with the best solution as possible. I am not sure if a pure web-based solution can perform this.
  2. Or maybe even also a good solution: is there a ready-to-use box with HDMI or DVI port and such kind of OS image installed?
  3. Hi folks, running several IP cams, mostly Axis, but maybe also soon Vivotek. Anyway, looking for a linux distribution which is purely generated for CCTV (on IP cams), it should be installed on the computer on just configure a few paramters, as soon as powered up it should just live stream from an IP-Cam. Is there anything like this? Thanks.
  4. Hi, i tested the ZoneMinder but as my Axis-Cams have montion detection integrated, I look into more a kind of proper "storage solution" for Linux. Currently I just ran scripts which are deleteing older folders after a while. I watch the recorded stream with the Widnows Explorer (view: big images). Thanks.
  5. Hi, what I wonder, if there is a platform available, where I can upload streams to. The issue is, I dont want people to access my hardware (Axis devices) thru the web directly. So I want the cam to stream up pics and then access from the server. Any hints? Thanks.
  6. Hi, actually, I couldn't find any documentation. The website you posted just says anything about the URL to be called. Only the online PDF manual claims, the HTTP API enables you "to get JPEG pictures". But that's it. So what need I enter in my video-player to get a JPEG or alternativle a MJPEG-Stream?
  7. Hi, just got a Samsung SNC-M300 with up to 3 MegaPixel which I definitley need to identify labels. Anyway, I cannot get any documentions how to access this camera via the HTTP API. Can anybody help me? What is the URL to grap a JPEG with high resolution? Thanks so far. Michael

Alternative Bosch NWC 0495 IP XF

Maybe I did put down my question the wrong way Basically, I am looking for a IP camera with pretty good performance during nite - especially without IR illuminators. And it must be IP based - I only run an ethernet network. Regards
  9. Hello, I run a Bosch NWC0495 IP XF on my farm to watch places espacially during nite. Quality is not bad. But is there even a camera with comparable price (1500$) but better image quality during nite? Anyway, another point is, if I check the camera via IE-Browser, the Bosch plug-in takes quite a while till it's up (it's for sure not the slow computer!) Regards
  10. Hi, I am running a Bosch Dinion NWC 0495 with XF technologie. I must confess without any lighting (and moon) the performance during night is incredible. But without moon - not that good as I need it. So I thought about installing LED IR lights. However, I not very sure, wheather they will give me good results. Especially on eBay I found one (eBay no. 180250113840) all integrated and does even switch on/off automatically. It says, the lightning shoudl reach up to 50 m. What is your experiences? Or could you recommend my some other prodcuts? Thanks a lot.

    Blurred images during night

Adjusting the focus during nite was the solution. As it is a tele objective, it was obviously not really in focus during daylight (but I couldn't see that). Thanks a lot for your really helpful work! BR
  12. Dear all, well, I am quite a greenhorn... anyway. On our farm, I am running a Bosch Dinion XF (nite surveillance is important) and replaced the standard vario lens (2 - 8 mm) by a tele vario lens (6-15mm) with auto-iris. During daytime, the image quality is perfect, however while the old lens obviously adjusted to the changing illumination during dust and dawn, the new lens seems to have problems. The images get quite blurry in the nite. The new lens has only a focus and zoom ring - and the connector to the camera. Did I do something wrong? Thanks for your help BR
