  1. I`d like to see that.... Cant give a login as it was only valid for a few days. I'm not saying it was like sitting in from of the system on lan, but it was certainly usable which surprised me given works ISP link.
  2. Exacqvision http://www.exacq.com Pricing was better than Milestone. Multiple camera vendors, arecont is one. Have accessed a 16 cam system on 512K adsl link and was happy with the performance. Simple to use/setup, I feel its more client friendly than some systems around. Cant say much more than that as so far only tested with 1 cam.

    Recor IP Cameras Remote

Many ways of doing it depending on setup, image resolution wanted, bandwidth available etc. My preference would be for a local recorder and then a remote client connected to it, or direct to cameras, recording as well.
  4. Have used in firefox yes, but only very quickly at a friends place just to view. Something I have to find more time to play with. According to spec sheet: COMPATIBILITY: Windows Explorer Firefox Apple Safari Opera Google Chrome
  5. Ive only got 1 camera running atm in a test setup but Exacq seems to be pretty good. Remote access can be done via webbbrowser, or their client software. I've accessed it on a 512K adsl link with the client and found it to be quite responsive. Pricing was a lot better than some others I have compared. While its an hybrid system analogue/IP they have a new embedded Linux version that you may be interested in. Its not shown on website yet. http://www.exacq.com/downloads/exacqvision-brochure-0409.pdf
  6. Nope, the 2megapixel dome is absolutely useless, I even tried dropping it to VGA resolution and still horrible. The box camera is not the best either but considering the price ok.
  7. I'm in the process of testing Hik models that I wanted for a budget job. Not very scientific tests, but enough to give me an idea of how they will perform. I was not expecting a lot from them due to cost and they have not disappointed me in that expectation. Not tested yet in outside daylight. 2MP dome 1600x1200 12FPS- 2CD752MF-E 1/3" CMOS sensor Motion blur is very low, but performance even in moderate light is ****. Room has a combination of 15watt fluro, and 100w incandescent. Low light shot only had a laptop providing just enough light to move around. By mistake I was sent a 2cd812PF-w instead of a megapixel unit, an interesting note it has an inbuilt wireless adapter. Yes it is focused! VGA box camera 25FPS 1/3" CCD sensor The 812 does a far better job in low light, I would consider it on par with a standard day/night. I could be seen moving around room fairly well and my face was reasonably clear on the monitor without motion blur.
  8. Don't happen to have a non resized version of that shot?

    Deploying IP cameras

    Thinking along same lines arecont camera, 3.1MP 100Gig a day, 11Mbps a sec approx with H264 24fps.
  10. 16MP is a case of big numbers for big cost. 1.3MP to 5MP cameras are a lot cheaper while providing a substantial improvement over analogue. In many cases I would prefer to have 2 cameras looking from 2 different directions than 1 that's easy to hide from. If you look around there is a number of software packages that support several brands of cameras. eg Nuuo, Milestone, Exacqvision. License costs vary.
  11. Bandwidth- 3.1MP 2048x1536 @ 12FPS Ive tested several H.264 cameras and found them running in the range of 5Mbps, and about 12 at 30fps. Limitating perhaps if trying to run more than 8 on a 100Mb connection but gig is easily achievable and ~90 cameras on one segment is more than what most will need. Current system I am working on is quite happily streaming a DVD as a camera input down a 512K adsl connection without major image quality loss. Anything more I say would be based only on one Indigo site that I have discussed with guru1 before but image quality, user friendliness, setup, would all get negative scores from me. Hopefully others have used it and had better luck.
  12. I have used a lot of the Bosch X1 range with good success. I have several on long range links that fluctuate greatly due to tidal issues and they haven't given me any issues. Edit: On a Motorola PTP600 5.4 GHz that drops down to about 10mbps

    Bosch VMS pc req.

Thanks I should have mentioned that I am only looking at 2cif/12fps for most cameras, and perhaps 2-3 at 4Cif/24fps. Specified at 7 days recording but the server I'm designing has room for up to 8 hotswap drives. Network consists of one specified 100mb 48 port Cisco 3560 switch and Ive added a SFP gig uplink for the server. (Estimating about 15000 Kbit/s data rate) Sawbones: Pricing varies on how many cameras, workstations, DVR's, NVRS, IP decoder to analogue units required. However for my option 32 camera lite edition worked out at about $125 Australian per cam. (plus server) The non lite edition works out a lot more expensive but is a lot more expandable.
  14. Has anyone used the Bosch "Video Management System" with about 16 to 32 cams. How hard is it on the CPU etc. Going to be configured as a NVR and hopefully displaying 4-8 screens live from same server.. Current specs I'm looking at is, 3Ghz Quad core, 1 gig ram, 1 os drive, 2 recording drives, Server board comes with 4 onboard GIG nics..
