    Geovision Iphone app out....

Hi Everyone, I understand the frustration, but basically GeoVision released the app to Apple for preliminary testing and Apple released it to their apps page and people began downloading it. This is why there is not documented support for it yet, since it was NOT supposed to be released yet. I don't think it would make sense to have Apple remove it at this point, so please bear with us as we put together a manual for your reference.

    Geovision Iphone app out....

Hi, GeoVision hasn't released any documentation on it yet, so unfortunately we're all kind of in the same boat since it started to get leaked out. I have it working properly on my iPhone and significantly better with WiFi - is your port set to 8866 on the GV-iView?

    Monitor button status hide???

Hi XXX, Can you describe your setup a bit more? I'm assuming that you, as the admin of the system, would like to see all the cameras on your system (regardless of hidden or not). If you want to keep people from being able to see certain cameras, you can change that in the password setup area. Would creating an account that masks a few cameras that runs on the system normally so that someone who walks by would see only the cameras you designate work for you? Then you can switch in to your admin account when no one else is around so that the hidden cameras remain private. Would something like this work for you?

Remote Training for Geovision and IP camera add ons

Hi, I know our technicians use www.gotomeeting.com and www.teamviewer.com to troubleshoot systems but other than that I'm not too sure I can be of much help. You could definitely check with them at our chat support at www.usavisionsys.com (link on the left side). Version 8.3+ allows you to add IP cameras until a maximum of 32 channels is achieved. For example, a GV1480 card offers 16 analog channels - you can add up to 16 IP cameras for a total of 32 channels. GeoVision offers 8 free IP license for GV IP Cameras with their DVR cards - if you want to add more than 8 GV IP Cameras to your DVR system, there is a separate licensing fee. There is a separate licensing fee per channel of 3rd party IP camera. Hope this helps!

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

Hey Guys, I just tested the connection w/ a VGA extension and it works with no problems. I did notice that the extension is missing the 9 pin as flatbedexpress mentioned. Thanks for following up w/ me Soundy - I'll be sure to let me my tech know so that future inquiries will have the correct options available to them! On a side note, any idea what a distance limitation would be on a cable like that before you might experience video degradation?

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

Sorry man, it looks like you're arguing semantics with me at this point if you're bent on me writing "data stream" versus transfer... I'll have our technician test it out in a few minutes - I'll be sure to let you know the results. Arguing about something in theory doesn't really mean much if it doesn't get the job done when you try it.

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

Well this is one of those cases where I wouldn't mind being wrong because there isn't anything extra for me to gain from being right - if he tries an extension cable and it doesn't work, then what? I'm not really sure why "stream" doesn't work for you there, but in this case "stream" and "transfer" are pretty much interchangeable terms. Data has to get across the wire somehow, and once again if it doesn't go through, then... I see where you're coming from on it and the logic is sound in theory, but since my tech recommended against it, I would not depend on it to work unless it has been tested.

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

Hm he only said that it's designed to work with GeoVision products only, so the typical cable that you can find at a commercial store (ex. RadioShack) won't have the correct connection type or ability to stream the data through the wiring. Outside of that you might have to contact our headquarters at support@geovision.com.tw for more information - hope this helps!

    Post YOUR Tested PCs

Just wanted to point out that GeoVision's product line is NOT compatible with 64-bit systems, only 32 bit. Great thread!

    Weird USB Key issue? huh?

Hi, There is a separate licensing fee for use of 3rd party IP cameras. GeoVision offers up to 8 IP camera licenses free with any DVR card (v8.3+), but the use of any compatible 3rd party IP camera requires insertion of a USB key to unlock it. You can definitely find the keys at any of our authorized distributors. Feel free to contact me if you would like any additional information!

    Weird USB Key issue? huh?

Hi, You can find the minimum system requirements for the different DVR cards at: www.usavisionsys.com > support > specs and requirements Is your PC a 64 bit system? GeoVision's product line is only compatible with 32 bit systems. There is also live chat support there where a technician can assist you with these kinds of questions.

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

Hi arockerdude, I just checked with our technician about your inquiry and he says that you can not use a basic extension as mentioned above. The only method to extend it would be to extend the BNC connection length. You can check with our technician at www.usavisionsys.com (link for chat on left side). Hope this helps!

    Geovision Dongle cord Extension Needed

A dongle cord extension? Are you trying to extend the BNC connection to your cameras..? I would definitely check with the distributor you purchased it from for suggestions or you can definitely call our sales line in my signature.
  22. Hi Soundy, I definitely agree with you and also use that line in explaining our product line (why MUST they have 30 fps when real time movies aren't even that way??). You can definitely see the difference between 24 fps and 15 fps though, and a recent bank installation wanted the highest FPS at the highest quality possible. They wanted to monitor some streets and the cars driving by, so if the fps was too low, then it might not have even caught the car driving by!
  23. Hi Soundy, By industry standard I meant that the resolution to fps ratio seems to be about 5MP at 15fps. Much higher than 5MP results in very low fps which basically results in pictures and no longer should be considered video. "IQ has a number of models that will 30fps at 1.3MP, 20fps at 2MP, and 12-15fps at 3MP." Not gonna argue with you there, I'm just saying that 30fps is pretty tough to achieve at a high MP and I'm impressed w/ Sanyo's specs. What would you say is the best quality picture that you can get with 15+ fps? Isn't it around 5MP?
  24. Yeah I definitely agree with that, but I gotta say that's pretty impressive to be able to do that - it looks like the industry standard so far is around 15fps w/ Arecont Vision cameras at 3-5MP?
  25. I'd have to say that the Sanyo one listed above that can do 30ips at 1920x1080 w/ H.264 compression seems the most impressive - the Avigilon camera specs show very low ips capability on their data sheets.
