router might be blocking ports...some DVR's use a different port # for PTZ commands

do you know if the ftp passwords have been changed from default.. they usually are not changed. If not changed it is very easy to ftp into the dvr. use cmd prompt ftp into the dvr goto the folder etc and del the user.db file this will default all the passwords for the dvr power cycle the dvr good to go

if it is the latest DS2 NOT the one with all silver front all you have to do is change drives... as for the passwords there are ways to telnet in and fix if all the passwords are not reset good luck.

Works great make sure it has the latest firmware 4.2 (13.95) they should all ship with the latest version. The earlier version would lock up and stop recording (this was when they were first released)

We are using mainly DM (Dedicated Micros) DVR's i have found one software solution to allow me to view the DVR's on a windows smart phone but it does not allow for playback, or PTZ control.

Questions

1. Does anyone have a software solution for DM that allows playback, or PTZ in live mode on the DM DVR's

2. If not DM what is another DVR non PC based system that allows for the smart phone hookup
