  1. Yup, I need a license from my area. I'm assuming it's different for each state. I already checked with my state fire marshal and in order to legally work with CCTV, I need a license. To get a license I need to complete a certification. If I don't have a license, then they slap me with a fine.

Anyway, the state fire marshal gave me a list of places on where to get certified. It's a 2 day program and I'll probably just take it in person. The next class is at the end of the month.

  2. Should I do my CCTV certification online or in person?

I don't have much experience other then the two systems I put together. The only other relation to this field is that I'm a computer enthusiast who knows how to build personal computers.

  3. What price range?

    Wholesale, or retail?

Are you the tech support, or do you require the company to have an in house tech support staff.

Would you rather save money, and go straight to China?

Do you want a product that is similiar to a TV? There is only 3 TV manufactures, but there are different names.

    What is your threat level?

I was looking for a price rage between 1500 and 2000 for a retail store that I would support.

As for China, it would have to depend on how much money I'd be saving. If it's half the costs from purchasing in the states then I'd be for it. However, I don't think that's the case so I would rather stick with someone in the states in case I had some trouble with what I purchased.

As for the question about TV and threat level. I don't have the slightest clue as to what type of TVs a CCTV system uses and I didn't know there were different threat levels in CCTV.

  4.

    2. Monitor - use a regular TV with built-in video in port using RCA connection - all you will need is BNC to RCA adapter here

    .

What do you mean a regular TV monitor? I believe most TVs these day are something along the lines of LCD or HDTV. Basically, I'm trying to figure out how do you hook up a DVR to a LCD screen? Also, how long was that cable? I couldn't find out how many ft itw as for 250 dollars.

  5. Man. That was a lot to take in.

Thanks for the replies though. I'm probably going to go with a DVR system since that's what so many vendors recommend I do. They generally say that DVR is just as good as NVR but it's cheaper

  6. Hi! I'm new to cameras and this seems to be like a friendly community.

I was wondering what's the major differences? Someone told me that NVR uses more bandwidth then DVR. They also said the quality is better with DVR systems.
