  1. Coaxitron is a little more complicated than just rs485. I would call Pelco's number ( (800) 289-9100) and ask them about it. I would certainly like to know the answer, specificly relating to ONSSI.
  2. LOL I have a Dell Optiplex GX250 running GV6.04 running at my home. It's been running with four cams for four years now without a problem. I've only allocated 10 Gigs of drive space and I usually have about a weeks worth of foootage. My home system has always impressed me (fingers crossed) with how reliable it is. I'd never build to sell with a Dell or any other box system.......but to answer the question, I've been happy with mine.
  3. Depending on the application a V600 should be fine. The financial concerns were already addressed and I agree with them. If you have a system or the ability to produce one economically I would still use the GV system based on it's features, serviceability, and ease of use. The V6.0 software is not terribly feature rich but does offer everything you get with a non-PC box as well as a "few" other niceties like the counter application and the multiple remote access applications.

Is this a real Geovision card ?

I have 6 V6.0 boards in stock. The packaging does appear to be authentice from what I see in your post. The price on the add seems fair as well considering the age of the card. I run a 6.0 version card in my home system to this day and it works just fine for me.....PTZ control and other nice features too. It's no 8 series system but it works great for home or small office.
  5. Never seen Milestone but I have used ONSSI. My only complaint about their customer service is that it's not 24 hr. Being on the west coast it's occasionally an inconvinience to call during my business hours only to find them closed. Other than that one example....I have no complaints. And unfortunately agree that the software is pretty decent compared to the other software based IP systems. Licensing is far too expensive thought IMHO

    ptz over coax

It looks like the VDS2700 would work great for this purpose. http://www.biwave.com/index.htm My only problem has been actually finding someone to sell them to me. Does anyone by chance know of a source for the VSD2700 in the US? Rory, do you know of anyone in the US that sells these devices?
  7. So Rory, Can you recommend something for those not-so-rich clients if the Cop-USA stuff is junk? I'm currently searching for a good way to send wireless video about 600ft with relative open line of sight. Any ideas? This has been an extremely helpful thread thus far. Thanks to those that have contributed to it.

    Convert “Coaxitronâ€

I am currently installing a Geovision based system in a site with existing hardware. There are several older Pelco Intercept domes there that operate exclusively on a “Coaxitronâ€
  9. Sounds like something is no longer making contact where it was before. I would check the call box first. Assuming of course that something wasn't replaced recently and presets are not assigned correctly. Good luck.

    GeoVision Server

Sounds like a good idea. I've never been able to find system requirements for CenterV2 but I have installed it in several sites and have had it running successfully for a few years now. The spec you have above should be considerably more than adequate. Are you aware of the USB license key requirement above five sites? I think the current USB keys open up 20 users per Center application. I have one customer running three CenterV2's through one Dispatch server. It's pretty slick actually. Another client is currently using the CenterV2 as its primary long term file storage vessel. The have four GV systems running on one manned security office, all four stream to one CenterV2, then the CenterV2 stores all video from all four systems on one large storage array in their network room. So far, the CenterV2 has been an excellent tool for combining all of the feeds from one campus and saving them in a central location for long term archiving. The CenterV2 also looks really sharp when displayed on two 42inch plasma screens. I like splitting the view and moving the log onto a separate screen better than having it all in one place.
