  1. Please help. I am very new with this iMVS 4200.

'Camera connection failed' when using iVMS-4500 on my iphone whilst on my phone network, but works when on my WIFI network.

I have not done any port forwarding/mapping nor VPN yet, is this what I am missing ?

    Someone please guide me through?

    Thanks.

Yes this is exactly what your missing, you need to fwd external ports to your campera ip,

    Camera 1 port 81 cam 2 port 82 cam 3 port 83 etc.

you don't need to change anything within the cameras itself.

Or if you have a nvr or pcnvr then just fwd one port to that and your all set.

  2. I have been running Hikvision iVMS-4200 for a few months. It was so non-intuitive, that I decided to type up everything I knew so I wouldn't forget. I hope everyone appreciates this: it took a while!

Thank you very much for this info its very detailed and useful.

    PLAYBACK

Use Remote Playback from Control Panel. Click on date/time near bottom to change the date for playback.

With your setting is it possible to review the storage server recorded files when accessing from a remote site? I have everything setup the way you advised but cannot for the life of it playback recordings remotely using ivms client.

On my mobile phone I can if I add the storage server port, but not on ivms client.

    Am I doing something wrong?

"- Set a different Server Port for each camera to allow easy access via smart phone."

i suppose it a user wants to directly connect to 1 camera then your advice is accurate and makes sense, but again, i assume people want to connect to the server and then view the cameras from there.

    thanks.

I think he is right, because I dont think you can connect your mobile app or remote client to the ivms server directly, unless you use the PCNVR version, in order for you to view cameras remotely you will need to port fwd each camera individually. I disagree with him in regards to change internal camera port, I think you can leave it to default and just assign dif ports in your router for each camera and link it to local cam ip.

Please note that in order to play recorded files on your mobile phone you will have to add the storage server port separately and when reviewing on your phone you will select the storage server not the individual camera.

  4. HI Everyone,

Wondering if somebody can give me some advice, My client wants to be able to switch live streams in IVMS-4200 using his joystick yet remaining in full screen mode.

At the moment we have to minimize one stream in IVMS-4200, Then switch to another live stream then full screen it.

Can this be done by pressing a button on the keyboard?

    Thanks

    Im also wondering the same.

Looking high and low for this feature but can't find anything on this, the ivms 4200 has something called keyboard shortcuts but I dont see any way of using to to switch camera views.

  5. is it possible to somehow configure the CMS software to use the sub image instead of the main image?

For the main local pc are you using the pcnvr version or the 4200 with storage server?

Regardless of which version your using on the remote pc try going into system configuration under image tab unselect auto change stream type. Then by main view select each camera and select sub stream.

  6. Is there anyway of reviewing recordings of the storage server on a remote pc using IVMS-4200?

I setup a local pc with ivms 4200 installed and setup storage server, on the local pc I can review the storage server recording, but on remote pc I cant figure out how to review them, when I do remote playback it tells me no files available.

When I put them in mobile app on my phone I can do remote playback to storage server but no live images.

Any idea on reviewing on ivms 4200 and live view on 4500 mobile app?

  7. If you already have the system up and running, why not give it a try? You just need a wire to close the contact on the camera alarm input, and some time on your computer.

I know it would be doable without any problems on a Hikvision NVR, and I trhink it should be doable too on a computer (I guess you are running iVMS-4200 PCNVR?)

Yes I have the iVMS-4200 PCNVR but how do I set the alarm to trigger the view to change?

  8. I have a 5 camera system connected to a pc using storage service to record on PC.

I would like to know if its possible to connect my door bell to the camera alarm input channel to trigger my PC to switch the 5 camera view to only enlarge for a certain period of time and show the camera facing my door when the door bell is pressed.

    1. I know its possible with some traditional dvrs, is it possible using the alarm input or further more connect a IO usb device to pc,?

    2. is it at all or only possible with a Hikvision NVR that has alarm input to trigger the live view setup to change?

    3. if none of the above is possible would it be possible thru the camera alarm input wire to trigger the pc view to change?

  9. Did you get this working ?

Yes thanks so much, followed your list to the "T" and it works like a charm.

I have 1 question, if I would like to access the cams and recordings on my phone or on remote ivms4200 client do I set it up with ports for each camera or I could just set up the PC ports and login straight to pc, also I set up stream server but dont know if that is for external connections, and if yes how do I connect my app 4500 to live view or remote playback.?

  10. I have IVMS 4200 with Storage Server working fine on a Windows 7 laptop. It records on motion detection just fine but I could only get it to work with a usb external drive. I couldn't get it to record on motion detection (event) to the C:.

edit : I have now got it to record to D: which is a partition on C: as well. I do not think it can be configured to record onto a drive partition which contains an OS.

Thank, can you explain please in short how you got this done?

  11. Hi,

I have added storage server in ivms 4200 but still the recording is not happening in local drive.

    can any one help me.

    Thanks,

    Mohan.R

+1 on this, I can't figure out how to set the storage server to record on hard drive. everything else works fine.

Also with a hik cam that records audio too when downloading the recordings it dosen't come with audio, any idea how to accomplish that?

  12. You can run a PC with software like BlueIris that can connect to analog cameras and IP cameras. Cost is reasonable at under $40 on eBay but would first download it and test the trial version.

If you turn motion detection & recording off and just use it to display, it's pretty efficient.

Thanks so far works well with my acti, but cant get it connected to my geovision DVR, any thoughts?

  13. I'm looking for a software to monitor remotely 3 different recorders, I have a hybrid geovision pc with 16 cameras. then I have some Chinese brand Dvr, and acti nvr software all at 3 different recording locations.

I have access to monitor ea individually but I would like to set them up so I can view all 25 cameras on 1 TV monitor thats connected to my pc but havent found the software that can do all of them together.

I can use ipcam viewer on my android and use bluestacks on my pc, but quality isnt the best.

  14. For $800 I just ordered the dell XPS 8700,

with a 4th Gen Intel Core i7-4770 processor 3.9 GHz

    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 2 DIMMs

    AMD RadeonHD 7570 1GB GDDR5

    1TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s

    Windows 7 Professional 64 bit

    16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW), write to CD/DVD

Integrated 7.1 with WAVE MAXXAudio 4

    Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.0+LE

This should be more powerful then the above op,

Will keep u guys posted on the performance with my geo 1480a with 9 analog and 4 ip cams.

  15. Hi I have a pc with a geovision 1480a card installed running 12 analog cameras and few ip cameras, the pc which is a core 2 duo with 4 gb ram installed is kind of acting up lately, its mostly using like 70-80% cpu, so I figured time to upgrade now. would anybody know of a good replacement which pc to buy?

I know there are some limitations to motherboards, so which one will work best?

  16. In your case, consider the ACTi KCM-5611, very good low light peformance (see my review), autofocus and 18X zoom.

Thanks for your support, Ive also read your review on it, very nice and detailed.

My questions now is, at the place where I need it I have a geovision 1480 analog card with 10 cctv and ptz cameras along with 3 geo ip bulet cameras, their pretty cool at night too, but no zoom and they tend to break too much.

With the KCM-5611 nvr softwere you wrote that it dosnt take much cpu, so can I install it on the same system using the geo dvr? its a core 2 duo so its not the latest pc.

  17. The problem with the S14 at 40 feet is that you are not going to get a ton of detail with that hemispheric lens. If all you need is a good solid over view, that could be a good call. Is it a well lit area?

I need more then a overview, I need details.

Its not well lit at all, I have one halogen light shining on that area but it doesn't give me much brightness even with current analog IR camera.

  18. I have a Geovision IP bulet camera that went bad and wont get any power at all now, Geovision sais I have to contact my supplier, problem is they are out of business and nowhere to be found,

Does anybody have a solution for me?
