  1. Thanks for the replies.

Typically, both the camera and dome have no indentifiable model numbers.

I think they are both generic chinese models.

I have specifications for both, which are as follows:

    Specifications of PTZ Dome

I doubt this helps much. If there is any more information I can provide which may be of use, please tell me.

The thing I really can't understand, is why the pan and tilt worked for a short while, then stopped working. The camera slipped very slightly on its screws, so we powered off, tightened the fixing screws and powered on again.

From that moment, only the camera functions worked. This suggested a loose wire, but having looked really hard, I can't find any.

The camera ID and protocol seem to be Ok.

The pan and tilt motors work during the 'test' procedure.

The batteries in the IR remote control are Ok.

What could I be missing? Any ideas?

    Thanks

  2. I'm new to cctv, having just bought a PTZ camera. I've got the camera working and can control its zoom/focus,etc, but I can't get control of the PTZ housing.

I'm using a slightly complicated setup as I have to use an IR remote control.

I've got hold of a PT-YPZ-485 RS485 to IR converter, which works on Pelco D and, as I said, controls the camera functions OK. Just once, for a minute or so, it controlled the pan and tilt, but no longer.

The housing circuit board has a test button, which sends the camera through a full pan and tilt range, so there doesn't appear to be a physical blockage.

I've checked for loose wires. I've tried altering the baud rate (2400,4800,9600)

The camera is definitely on ID#1 and so is the controller.

    Has anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks
