  1. I am not recording audio, but you can activate it under camera / audio install located under the configuration menu.

What i was trying to say was: Is it impossible to record audio when using 640x480 Interlaced (Not De-Interlace)?

I think its just a geovision hardware limitation since Interlace is better quality than De-Interlace.

  2.

Is it just me or doesn't every single image market "DeInterlaced" looks all interlaced to hell. I mean the curb at Rory's house looks like stairs! That hasn't been deinterlaced properly, then the supposedly interlaced images all look smooth. That curb isn't moving, no need for that.

Think this might be a labeling issue?

I was thinking that it may be a labelling mistake aswell. Isn't De-Interlaced images supposed to look better?

I have watched live video and still images on the de-interlaced resolution and the quality is very poor compared to the Interlaced.

Also when recording Audio you can only use the poorer De-Interlaced resolution, this may be a Geovision hardware limitation. This is the main reason i do not want to use the geovision card.

  3. Are you running your resolution above 640x480? Because when it gets dark enough at 720x480 it starts pixelating so bad it can cause that to happen.

It is a bug that Geo is aware of. 3MB to 130MB, something very wrong somewhere.

Small mistake: It goes from 3mb to 65mb.

    I am running at 720x576 De-Interlace.

At night the images are only Black and White whereas in the morning they have Colour, so i was thinking that the images will be a smaller size at night!

  4. Why is it that the size of the recorded files on a Geovision become really large when its dark. I'm using the GeoMPEG codec. During the day the files are only about 3mb for 1 minutes recording and then when it becomes dark the files become about 130mb!!! Massive difference.

Is there a way to keep the file sizes to about 5mb for a minutes recording ALL DAY not just during the light periods??

  5. maybe its just the PAL versions ?

What is the screen size you are using, windows settings, etc ...

I tried both 720 non and de interlace and they were the same, with 720 de interlace having no lines in the image when cars or people move in front of it.

I have Baxall cameras with 680 TV Lines (PAL) so the camera resolution is no problem. Windows XP screen resolution is 1280x1024 at 85Hz. The GV-800 Multicam Panel resolution is 1024x768 (Tried 1280x1024 but does not make any difference). Tried the card on another PC but makes no difference. Maybe its just that the Geovision cards produce poorer images when set to de-interlace?

  6. Interlaced is less quality than de-interlaced.

Using interlaced (the normal resolution selection next to corresponding de-interlace selection) is clearly higher quality.

Thats the reason why geovision only let you use the de-interlace because their card probably cannot haddle it without the de-interlace.

The images are much more clearer compared to the de-interlaced. I have tested this and it is a fact!

  7. My main point was why do you have to be limited to the poor 720x576 (De-Interlaced) resolution and cannot use the 720x576 (Interlaced) resolution. I am only using two cameras!!

If only two cams are used on a GV800 the higher quality resolution should be allowed with Audio recording ????????

  8. Hi guys, great forum,

I've just instaled a GV-800 16-Channel card. The audio is perfect when viewing live video on the multicam

software. I am unable to playback audio in ViewLog.I have checked all the following as stated on the geovision manual:

    - The video you selected may not have any audio records.

    - The speaker icon in the lower right corner is not enabled. (See page 93)

    - Audio can only be played back in 1X speed.

When saving AVI files there is also no audio. Only a small percentage of the times i view the Viewlog and there is

audio but only for about 2 seconds. But most of the times there is absolutely nothing .

The PC is a P4 2.6GHz, 1GB ram, Creative Audigy 1 sound card, ATI x700 Graphics card, ABit AI7 (Intel 865) motherboard. Recording onto one hard drive (Folder: D/Videos/).

    What can i do now?

    Thanks in advance.
