    CCTV Testing Tool

Yes, very good investment. I was on ebay looking at a cctv tester tool that had a tiny 2.5" screen and a 12v dc output for the cameras. Im glad I didnt purchase it. Getting power to the cameras are not a problem I just need to adjust and focus them without getting off the ladder 100 times to go back inside to view it on the dvr or quad. The downside to a tool like that is if you have 24vac cams then it wouldnt power it anyway. Here is one on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/TFT-LCD-MONITOR-COLOR-CCTV-Security-Surveillance-CAMERA-TESTER-TEST-12V-OUTPUT-/180741078547?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a1501fe13

    CCTV Testing Tool

I know this post is old but I too am in need of a monitor to adjust cameras while on a ladder. I just ordered this 7 inch portable tv that has rca inputs. The good thing is it has a rechargable battery so no power cord is needed. It should be in this week as this should be the last item I need on my equipment list. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Sylvania-7-Portable-LCD-TV-SRT702A/12548058
  5. This is my first job at a local church. They have been having problems with attempted break-ins. I did a 4 camera setup with a dvr for remote viewing. Im almost done, I just have to install the monitor and configure the dvr. Here are the pics. Any tips or suggestions?

Thanks. I did find some cctv signs and stickers on ebay and ordered them. The dvr lock box is a must. Where could I find one thats not too expensive?

My first CCTV installation at a local church

I haven't gotten the monitor to adjust the cameras and to check the fov yet. I'm hoping I can aim it past the light to eliminate any glare. The pastor did mention possibly moving the light fixture also. I should be able to complete everything next week

    RG59 Siamese Cable

Thanks guys for the heads up. I didn't order that cable. I figured something wasnt right. I did however get some rg59 18/2 with a copper shield
  13. Hello all. Im looking to purchase some rg59 siamese on ebay. Is it possible to get rg59 that degrades my picture quality. this is what the listing says. This is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160672907684 Oh yea it is also listed to be RG59B/U Siamese what is the B/U for? RG59B/U Siamese Cable is a combination of RG59 for video and a pair of 18-gauge power wires in one jacket. This design makes installation easier by carrying video and power over one cable run. Our RG59B/U cable features a 20AWG or 0.81mm center conductor and 18/2AWG stranded power wires for better conductivity. The braiding coverage is a true 95% with a braid construction of 9x16x0.12 and a pitch of 33mm to provide effective shielding from high frequency interference. The wire's insulation is made of 3.66mm FPE (Foam Polyethylene) which result in a low dielectric constant and lower attenuation.
  14. Hey guys. Anyone own or ever used a video inspection (snake) camera tool on any installation job. I figured it could be useful in looking inside the wall. The one im looking at has an lcd light on it with a 2.4 lcd monitor to view. It also comes with a magnet tip, mirror and hook tip. I plan to use it to inspect inside of walls to know exactly whats there before I running wires.

    Video Inspection Camera

Yea they false advertised on that one. Because its no feature on there to capture jpegs. It's still was a good bargain tho. I'm sure I'll get plenty use out of it

    Video Inspection Camera

I picked up a video inspection camera today at my local harbor freight tool store. got a good deal on it with a coupon that made it $71 bucks. Does a decent job although it doesnt have an sd card slot to record or do stills. Im going to use it to to be sure im nowhere near electrical or pipes or plumbing when Im drilling into walls to run my wires. http://www.harborfreight.com/digital-inspection-camera-67979.html

How much did you pick those up for? It looks nice
  20. I am purchasing 2 cameras that require 24VAC along with 2 housings that has a heater and fan that also require 24VAC to power. I've never hooked up a housing that has this. Im using RG59 siamese cable 18/2. Since I am only using 2 cameras, Do I use "two" 24v transformers, How do I power the fan and heater in the housing? Surely I dont go buy a 24V 16 ch power supply box for 2 cameras. Can someone shed some light?

    RG59 Siamese Cable

It says it's 18/2 but the listing doesn't verbatim say cable copper shield. I hope it's not some low quality cable that degrades my video quality
