I am fairly sure this is a Dahua clone but don't know what firmware will work on it. I have tried firmware for HCVR5216A but get an error so I suspect it isn't the one. Any ideas?

Thanks Numb-Nuts,
updating and refreshing the firmware does not touch the "accounts". The security issue is a point well taken.
A user on this forum, I won't name since it was obvious he wanted to stay anonymous, contacted me privately and pointed me in the right direction to SOLVE my problem. I was able to enter the root directory and edit the password files then reboot my system and make corrections through the control panel. Learning Linux and the procedure took the better part of an hour, now that I know how it is a 2 minute fix. This method did not affect any of my other settings. THANKS AGAIN....... you know who you are.

I have installed many of the Dahua 16ch DVR’s. Recently I found a way around the 1hr timeout of the menu password by giving all privileges to the user group. This worked so well I did it for many of my customers. Now a few customers want to revert back to using a password and I can’t modify the user group while I am using it. I can’t change to another account like admin since it defaults to user. I have talked to the dealer that I buy all my units from and they have a way to reset the user accounts but will not share it with me. Any ideas???

Is there one you recommend ?
How about this;

I am working on an instillation that has the DVR and monitor at one end of the house. I want to add a 7” LCD monitor next to the front door at the opposite end of the house. This 7” monitor is switchable between 2 inputs, the door camera and the porch camera.
For my initial tests I “T”ed into the video off the porch camera and notice degradation in recorded video, live doesn’t look like it lost any. I am assuming that I am pulling the video signal down with the 7” monitor.
What can I do to keep the quality to the DVR ?

SEANHAWG,
I suspect it is a typo, everywhere else it says 16 channel. It does show 16 channels of audio, that seems off since it should be only 4.
It could be a 4 channel, but I doubt it. The same company also sells a 4 channel for about $7.00 (inc shipping), under your 4 channel price so I would think they know the difference.
The paypal refund problems you mention are a reasonable arguement and for the savings of only a few bucks I wouldn't take the risk especially on the 4 channel one from them. On the 16 channel the difference (inc shipping) is about $88, may be worth the risk.

no offense taken. you are buying a dahua 16 dvr for the first time. me this year over 280 you cant buy a 16 with shipping and duty for $300 ........ but yes keep going with your paypal TILL is comes to full payment and bottom left you will seeUS$324.85~325.00
Min. Order: 1000 Pieces
i did find a site at $430 with min of 20.
anyway i am only trying to help you not waste money as a dahua 16 way dvr is not $300 not even from dahua
I hate to beat a dead horse, but you are mistaken. My friend just went all the way and bought it, with paypal, the total was $299.
If you actually buy as many as you say you do you might look into them, save you some $$
I already have one that I paid $800 for last year , I am going to buy another from the guy in OK but after Jan 1 for next year write off. I feel a little better getting it from a US dealer.

yes your right i have just done it. $322 shipped. THEN bottom RIGHT min order 50 units.IseeU2 the prices you are posting are too low. other things to look out for no contact details / gmail addresses and the hidden costs of shipping or the quantity you need to buy
No offense, you are looking at a different site. I took it all the way to Paypal, did everything but pay. total $322, I can buy 1 unit.

Thanks for jumping in, I like that you are USA based and offer a warranty, even though the price is a bit more.
Can you confirm the Qvis Apollo HD 16 Channel DVR is the same as the DH-DVR1604LE-A?
-
Actually I googled "DH-DVR1604LE-A", it is the first hit, and they show EMS shipping to USA as $23, total in cart $322.
-
The $299 one is listed as DaHua DH-DVR1604LE-A, is that the VGA?
Where in the specs do I tell the good one from the not so good?

I posted this in general discussion and got no responses, thought I would ask here.
In trying to keep within forum rules so I won't post the web site url's but try to ask my question in another way.
I have a 16 channel DVR model CSP-BCGEN16, bought from a company on the internet for $849.99, after getting it I found out on this forum that it is a Dahua DH-DVR1604LE-A
I have a friend who wants one and googled the Dahua number and came up with prices from $299.00 to $499.00.
I know the higher priced one (mine) comes with a HD but that only adds around $100.00.
So my question is are all of them the same unit? Why such a big price difference?

Rory,
Thank you so much. It worked prfect, no brick. The only real complaint I had with this DVR was the playback screen and method of viewing events. This update fixed it, it's now great!!
-
Rory,
Thanks that saves me a lot of time looking.
Mine has the USB option in the "version" screen. Do I drop the .bin file on a USB drive and install it that way?
-
Rory,
Can you help me a bit find it, I have googled it and can't come up with the firmware.

I have this model, CSP-BCGEN16, from CCTV securitypros.
I believe it is the Dahua DH-DVR1604LE-A.
My version screen shows;
system; 2.606.0000.0,
build date; 2010-12-07.
Can I upgrade the firmware?
Is it worth it?
Where do I get the files?
Thanks for the help.

I downloaded the file "General_PSS_Eng_IS_V4.04.6.R.110302.rar" and extracted (2) files, "Pro Surveillance System.msi" and "setup.exe", but no .ini files, what did I miss?
-
Does the pro have the option to set some cameras at 4CIF while other cameras are at a lower resolution and / or frame rate?
The specs say it remote viewing is possible on a Iphone, do you know if the Itouch will work also?
-
I notice the "pro" doesn't list D1 like the Extreme does. I called them on it and salesman "Andrew" said 4CIF was the same. I don't believe he is correct. Do I care either way?
-
WOW, lots of info, thanks.
I don't need the loop out ability, and a single drive will do fine since all cameras are motion only. The DVD isn't necessary since there is a PC 2 feet away. With that in mind is there any reason to spend the extra on the bigger unit?

I have been using a DIY PC based DVR for the past 12 years. It has been upgraded several times. The video card is now out and I am considering buying a stand alone system. The stand alones have improved quite a bit since I first started, and the lower power consumption will save several hundred over a year’s time. My needs are 8, or more channels, multiple monitors, simultaneous 1 computer the rest TV, internet access to viewing, and of course the best video in live and playback. My cameras are all analog. I am expecting to spend $500 – 1K
Does anyone have opinions on the following;
CSP-BCGEN8
CSP-EXTREME8DVR
If you google they come up easy. I would post a link but there may be forum rules against it.
I would appreciate any opinions and recommendations.
live view momentary freeze
in Digital Video Recorders
Posted
I just replaced a HCV502A-16-S2 with a HCVR5216A-S2 and now have an issue with the monitor viewing. The monitor is connected with by HDMI.
When watching live video the picture will freeze for a micro-second every 3.3 seconds. The playback of recorded video does not do this. If I watch the live feed on the Smart PSS application (main stream) the live feed does not freeze. The problem seems to exist only with the HDMI output. I have tried 4 different monitors and the problem is the same.
Does anyone have suggestions?
