    Panasonic WJ-HD316A USB burning

Just try copying to a DVD or CD without using the Plextor at all. I don’t think it will work for you either. You will have to format the disk and use the recommenced burners. That is the question above. Also read the ADDENDUM direct from Panasonic in regard to upgrades and the addition of other capture media, etc. ADDENDUM http://rock2000.com/Company/Panasonic/WJ-HD300AOpManualAddendum.pdf Taken from the manual: To copy (duplicate) recorded images onto the DVD-RAM disk, formatting (initializing) the DVD-RAM disk is required in advance. To delete images recorded on the DVD-RAM disk, formatting (initializing) of the DVD-RAM disk is also required. Important: All data on the disk will be deleted if formatted (initialized). It is impossible to recover the deleted images.

    Panasonic WJ-HD316A USB burning

Sorry, I failed to mention my thoughts in regard to the WJ-HD300 series updates. From what I understand, the updates add features to the player such as being able to make a snap shot from within a video for saving to a HDD or printing. They also expanded some of the features for viewing and controlling the unit from a PC. They also added the ability to use a SD card reader with USB Interface and an External HDD with USB Interface. There is a day light savings time update too. There are other areas covered in the updates that involve too much to cover here. However, there is an ADDENDUM available from Panasonic, explaining those updates. By the way, I think I have a copy of the ADDENDUM for the 300 series? I will have to look.
  3. Yes, you can use your Plextor. My Plextor (ConverteX, Model PX-M402U) came with two move making programs. One program was included with the Plextor installation software called (Inter Video Win DVD Creator.) The other program that came in the package is called, (Video Studio * SE DVD) by Ulead. I use the S-Video out, located on the front panel of the WJ-HD316, to the S-Video connector on the Plextor. Then I use one of the for mentioned programs to capture the video. By using the Plextor, you can copy as much live or recorded video, as you want, to your computer with no time or size limitation.. You can also capture live or recorded video directly to a regular VCR by using the RCA Jacks located on the front panel as well.

    Panasonic WJ-HD316A USB burning

Yes, you can use the Plextor to copy from the WJ-HD316.. However, I understand that the Plextor converts the files making them readable for various movie making programs and media players. When using the proper burner from the manufacturer, you must Format, (Initialize) the disk receiving the copy. I would think it is done that way so the Panasonic player can play the copied files? The manual states that you must Format or (Initialize) all internal, external and/or extension drives. At least that is the way I understand the manual.

    Panasonic WJ-HD316A USB burning

I have only made copies via the RCA out to a VCR and the S-video out directly to a computer. These out puts are located on the front panel along with the USB copy port 2 out. After reading the manual, the only thing I can think of for the moment is, have you Formatted, (Initialized) the CD, DVD or disk receiving the copy? It seems to me that the unit is not recognizing the disk? Check the Format (Initialize) A DVD-RAM DISK section in the manual. Also, check the Format (Initialize) Hard Disk section in the manual. Hopefully, this helps.

    camera in key pad

Gorilla glue expands to fill in voids and has that spray insulation look? I wouldn’t use it for heavy duty holding power. However, I think it would do fine for holding a small camera.
  7. Good job Rory. Great tool you came up with.

    Auto-iris lens

What about AWB, the circuitry in a color camera that allows it to yield perfect color pictures in different types of light It seems to me that there is just something wrong with that camera. I would replace it.

    Digimux Questions

I don’t know if this is even relative to your situation or not, but, just a thought that might help.. I have a Sony Multiplexer that is configured to show the color bar test pattern when the signal from a camera or cameras are interrupted. I’m thinking there might be a power interruption due to a power supply problem like heat or something, or in the power line itself. There might be something like a pump, air conditioner, etc, on the same power line with your cameras power supply that comes one every once and a while that drains the current needed to run the cameras.

    more than 30 camera installation.

Securitymonster mentioned Panasonic stand alone DVRs. I have one and you can cascade multiple units up to I believe 64 cameras. I also believe you can do the same with some of the other stand alones. If you choose the stand alone rout, you will just have to choose one with that feature.
  12. I’m not familiar with your card. However, most I have encountered have a setting in the tools or settings for setting the amount of disk space you want to use for recording various functions. One setting should be to overwrite when the disk is full.

Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....

I went online and downloaded the player for your unit. You are right. The player is really lacking functions. Hopefully, my other solution or someone else’s will bring better results.

Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....

Somehow, I think we are missing something here. I can‘t imagine a company like Nuvico not providing a way to copy and/or play back video via other means. Therefore, I would like to add to what I mentioned above regarding the Panasonic DVR. The Pano came with software that you put on your computer for viewing live and captured video over LAN or WAN. The software also includes a player for viewing captured video. From this installed software, you just copy the video clip or clips to a CD, or HD disk on your computer, plus, a copy of the player. Once the video clips and player are copied to a CD or disk, just click on the player, select the (file) or (clip), and play the video via the player. Simply, the player is the means of playing the video stored on the CD, or your computer HD. Rory’s comment about CamStudio is also something of interest. I am going to download and play with that later today. Hopefully, I am understanding your question correctly and my comments help?

Need to get mjpeg video off Nuvico DVR....

I have a Panasonic WJ-HD 316 from which I can transfer video and audio out via RCA jacks to a VHS tape. The unit also has an S-video out that I connect to a Plextor ConverteX, model PX M402U. The Plextor came with two sets of software or programs. On one disk is InterVideo WinDVD Creator and WinDVD 5. The other disk contains VideoStudio 8. By using the Plextor ConverteX model PX M402U, via the S-Video out on the DVR , I can burn DVD’s or CD’s that will play back on Windows Media Player or the for mentioned programs for the police. I’ve never used any of the Nuvico DVR’s. However, I looked at a Brochure for the Nuvico model you have. The Brochure shows that your unit has an S-video out which leads me to believe you can do the same. By the way, the Plextor was about a $100.00 including the programs.

    Motion detection question

I totally agree with Scruit. However, I would add that lighting the areas both near and far is important as well.

    Speco Intensifier Series Cameras

I have a Speco HT-7815DNV which has external lens control of zoom and focus. In fact, the housing looks to be the same and I’ve never had any fogging or humidity problems with the camera. However, the HT-7815DNV has built in heaters that are not included in the specs of the intensifier you describe which could leave the possibility open.

Anna Nicole Smith dies in Florida hospital

The problem is, there is no money to be made from the death of the young boy or girl after passing while fighting for a country. Millions were made by taking advantage of Anna Nicole’s weakness’ over the years. And millions will be made from her death. Simply, it’s just a matter of a small few taking advantage one’s weakness or place in life in order to line their greed filled pockets.

    Weird issue with Panasonic HD316A

I don’t know for sure but, it’s this area that is the most logical area for you to look. Go to setup menu advanced, then schedule, then rec program. In the setup area, check and see if anything has changed there for program 1,2,3 and 4. You should see what I’m talking about when you get there. Every camera should be the same by (default) across the board. You can also change the settings there. I also think that these features only work if you have the unit set to advanced mode. If the timer light on the front panel is light then you are in advanced mode. If the light is off you are in quick mode. To test if this is the case, change to quick mode and see if the camera records.

How To Make Camera Adjustment Where Installed?

I don't know much about the company but, a place called Eagle Technology also sells test and focus meters. E-CM1 and E-FM1. I believe the E-FM1 is focus only.

    Need help in deciding

I don’t know about those camera's or if the spec’s are accurate. However, there is something else to think about. Any part of your system is only as good as the weakest link. If the DVR is only capable of, or is set at 320/240 for example, it would most likely not mater if the camera’s are 520. The picture quality will suffer. Just a thought and something you might look into.
