  1. thanks for the reply, you steered me in the right direction, i ended up going to Pelcos site, and found the following:

    EXTERIOR SURFACE

Clean the dome’s exterior surface with a nonabrasive cleaning cloth and agent that is safe for acrylic plastic. Either liquid or spray cleaner/wax

suitable for fine furniture is acceptable.

then i went to amazon and found this cleaner, looks to be right on the money:

    http://www.amazon.com/Novus-Plastic-Polish-Oz/dp/B000FGLRC4/ref=pd_sim_sbs_hg_13

    thanks again

  2. just checking to see what you guys use to clean your outdoor domes, when the glass,( i know its not glass ), gets dirty..

i have read that the cloth should be one of those micro-fibre type, but the cleaning solution is what i am curious about, i have read nothing that has alcohol in it...

mainly looking for a brand and maybe a link...

    thanks

  3. i am gonna resurrect this post, i have been having the same problems with my cnb vcm-24vfs, the image that i get during the day, looks very detailed, BUT, the items in the image has a blooming effect, not very detailed...

i have tried very hard to correct this issue, i stumbled upon the same settings as the original poster did, i set it to DC, and lowered setting below default, sure enough the pictured looked light years better, but the next morning the cameras wouldn't switch back to color, which was very disappointing...

i have even considered hiring someone to come and setup the cameras, i refocused several times, that didn't help, so i know its not that, its the settings of the camera..

can the camera be left in ESC, will that provide a better image, more detail?

any input would be greatly appreciated...

  4. If you adjusted and focused it during the day, the iris would have been closed down partially, creating greater depth of field (ie. a wider range in the focus adjustment where the shot would still be in focus). At night when the iris opens up, the DOF becomes a lot shallower and the area that's in focus will shrink.

If this is the same as the VCM-24VF, you should be able to go into the onscreen menus and change the exposure setting from DC to ESC - that will switch it to electronic shutter and open the iris all the way. Adjust your focus that way, then switch it back to DC.

thanks Soundy, I am gonna have to check that tomorrow, normally when i focus, i install a welders filter , that allows me to focus during bright light, but when i installed this camera, i didn't focus it, as it looked good, as is...

tomorrow i will refocus it and see if that helps..

my only problem is my old bastard eyes, but i am gonna try and get it the best i can...

  5. i just installed a CNB VCB-34VF and i notice at night, as cars pass by in front of the camera, the images of the cars is blurry, i am thinking that it is caused by the WDR feature of the camera...

my CNB VCM-24VFs don't do this, has anyone else noticed this with their WDR cameras...

  6. it looks good to me, what make camera is that?

and let your neighbors look, if they don't like it, they can tell you, where-as you can tell them to mind their own f'ing business....

i have 9 outdoor cams, including my new corner mounted ptz, hitting 270 degrees of view, its nice to see what goes on around your home and also document it, just in case...

but i do agree, you should relocate your ptz to a corner, just pick up a corner outdoor mount...

  7. I would start by defaulting the whole thing back to factory default and then tweak your settings. Usually, if you reset it to factory default, it will pop it out of B/W mode. Be sure to do this during the daytime when there is plenty of light.

yes thats what i intended to do tomorrow, now i have baseline settings , i just have to work from there...

those cameras have taken a back seat since i installed my ptz today...i can't stop messing with it...

  8. well i was playing around with the settings of my CNB VCM-24VF cameras, cause i just wasn't happy with the look of the picture, i set the settings as follows:

    DC:

    Level 3

    AGC:

    Level 3

    SBLC:

    Low

    DNR:

    Low

    Sharpness:

    5

This morning i noticed that the cameras, would not go out of B/W Night Mode, now after i made the about changes to the settings, the picture was great, maybe slightly soft, but otherwise clear, now i am confronted with this B/W problem...

would anyone know, based on the settings mentioned above, the rest of the settings on the camera is stock btw, what could of caused this B/W condition, and what would maybe correct this problem...

    thanks...

  9. I also have purchased GVI Video Plus PTZ's. 6 outdoor. 12 zoom and 36 zoom. Their is no outdoor Wall mounts in the box. I have been searching for the GVI PTZ wall mounts with no luck. The model I have is AHP-3112S. Do any one know where I can get these.

well after a lot of research, i found that the Vitek outdoor mounts will work for us, the following mounts are the ones i bought, should have in a few days, they are being drop shipped to me...

btw, i just score the GVI KYB-300 PTZ/DVR controller, same ebay seller...

  10. i just received my PTZ camera today, and i see it works with many different protocols, i was curious, is one protocol better then another, and also i notice that there are different Baud rates, within each protocol, is the higher rate better, then the lower rate....

  11. well, i am with Soundy on this, i myself have never had a problem with CNBs switching over to b/w, and i have installed 8 around my home...in fact, you can set sensitivity to when it switches...

as far as your alarm, being a waste, i don't know what system you have, but we have ADT, and have never had a problem, the one time that we had a fire alarm go off in our home, when we weren't home, after calling us to make sure it wasn't a mistake, ADT immediately contacted the police , and they were at our home in less then 3 minutes...you get what you pay for...

  12. Your adding cameras inside the home?

I think that a dome camera would not look so good in a home unless you want it to be visible.

I think a camera like this would blend in much nicer to any home decor. The camera is behind the glass/plastic and the cover can be white, silver, etc.

i like this idea,,,pretty good place to place a camera, as it will be low enough to capture a face possibly, not the top of a hat...

  13. CCTV OVER BOUNDARY

    Hello

Recently we have observed our neighbour sweeping windfall leaves into our back garden along with his own garden waste taking rubbish out of his bin and sweeping it over our boundary. They also cut the edge well over the boundary line, which over the years we have asked them not to do so and the last 3 years asked them in writing. The neighbour replies he cannot help it if their hedge cutters slips, and if we don’t like it take them to court.

We have never seen eye-to-eye with these neighbours as we refuse to have our lives controlled by bullies over the years we have encountered verbal abuse harassment and much more, which the police have advised us to take a private prosecution. Also over the past 12 weeks we have had a total of £ 950.00 damage to our car which is parked on the road, we haven’t a clue who’s behind it we no the police cannot be everywhere.

We have CCTV fitted, but no camera records-films past our boundary or on to the street.

Could anyone please advise? We would come under English UK law.

    1) Can we record with our CCTV on to the public highway to film our car. As this rain of vandalism could last another year. We did ask the police but as normal less than helpful said we should ask a solicitor.

    2) Do I have the right to record our neighbours with CCTV them putting their rubbish over the boundary. I.e. recording over the boundary.

    3) I know we don’t fall under data protection as this is a normal house

We have suffered from these neighbours for so many years now. Please if anyone as got some good advise we would be very grateful.

    Thanks

    Helen 72

just do, who cares what they think, plus when you catch these d'bags doing such things to your property, you will have evidence to bring charges against them, or use in court against them....

  14. Hi Eric,

Those are pretty nice PTZ's from what I hear. GVI had a liquidation auction recently and those were selling for some really killer deals, but you had to buy 50 at a time. I have dealt with alot of GVi equipment and most of it is really good quality. They used to make stuff for Samsung and also they had a thing worked out with LG their for a while. Ever since they lost their contract with Samsung, things went down financially for them. With that being said, the quality of equipment they have is very good, but dont expect any type of warrranty with it because they are no longer a company anymore. But if its brand new and works right out of the box, chances are, it should last you a good while.

    hey Sean,

yes, the specs seem really nice.....that's what i was thinking, that this eBay seller must have a lot of them to be selling so cheap..

this is brand new, still in wrapped box, so i should have no problems...

yes, the warranty issue, had me a bit worried at first, but ebay offers some type of warranty , where you can get coverage anywhere from one to five years..its from a company called SquareTrades, its is through eBay, so i should be good, even if the warranty is 100.00 for 5 years, i am still way ahead of the game, a 2200.00 PTZ for 335.00, you can't go wrong..

i am just so psyched....now i just have to locate a corner exterior mount...

heres a link to another of these cameras, that ends in about 4 hours...

  15. GVI used to be an affiliate/offshoot of Samsung, so I'd expect it to be a pretty decent camera. Most of the prices I've found for it are around $1200, and since you get what you pay for, to a large extent, in this business, I'd say that's a good indicator as well. The specs on it look good - TDN, 1/3" CCD, etc.

Are they still around, when i go online to see what they are about, i see many sites that speak of their products being discontinued...

There was a thread about this in the Dealers forum a while back. If memory serves, Samsung kicked GVI out of bed, and GVI pretty much folded after that. Should be able to find more info by googling.

yes i just found a article on the split, but i was happy to hear that Samsung was involved, we know they build quality items..

i just won a brand new GVI Video Plus 36x Outdoor PTZ Camera, AHP-3136S off eBay, for 335.00 + free delivery, these things listed for MSRP: $2250, i am gonna guess i got a killer deal...

i can't post a link, but this seller has a lot of more of these cameras, selling, NO RESERVE...

    thanks for your help Soundy...
