GV-NVR and new Dell Win 7 computer

I have never worked with that system... but maybe the button doesnt appear until it has detected a camera? Can you log into the camera directly or ping the camera on the network to make sure it is showing up? Also does the program use Internet Explorer to open the window. Although it says its compatible with Windows 7 you may want to make sure it is compatable with the version of IE you have installed on that machine. I have had issues compatibility issues with IE 9 and some security brands.

    a problem with safari

Active X is basically microsoft. I am apple illiterate so if you can get Internet Explorer on your Ipad that should fix your problem. Also if you are using a megapixel camera somtimes you will need to send out a lower megapixel stream to view it on a device like a phone or Ipad.
  4. Random thought... Do you think you could use an RJ45 splitter to split a P.O.E. connection to avoid running an additional Cat5/6 wire. This would be handy in a situation when a customer adds a camera and it is troublesome to get an additional wire to the location. It just seems to me like a basic RJ45 splitter in a sense just ties all the pin connections together and as long as you don't exceed the maximum power output of the P.O.E. switch per port it should work.... What do you all think?
  5. Oh cool! I love Veracity's unique hardware, this is one device i didnt know they had however; I was just curious about a simple way to add one camera with a splitter that would be small enough to fit in an electrical box. I think i'll test it out and let you know how it goes. I'm just not sure if it will work from a networking or power side of things.
  6. Good point I forgot I have had troubles with Vivotek and internet explorer 9.

    Camera Placement Questions

An option to get it higher in the air is to do something like this... http://www.securitycamera2000.com/productimage.php?product_id=2316 I didn't do much surfing around, but I think they sell them where you can put the hook end of a mount like this under the eve and wrap the mout around the facia board resulting in the camera mounting above roof height. If you can't find a bracket that has the ends put on opposite I'm sure you can buy something lik this and just swap the actual camera side of the mount with the wall mount side, I mean its basically just pipe in the middle. I would also make sure to use some sort of metalic conduit if you will have exposed wire at a reachable height.
  10. I am assuming you were on your laptop and not two different computers? I used to love Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, but when mixed with all the things you like to do with video security all you get is problems. I now use Internet Explorer 9 and that's it.
