You'll probably have to contact Netvision for a new license file. Was your old software the Hikvision-branded one? That would explain why the license file didn't work for the 5.68 version.

I think they usually charge about $5 per channel for the license.

Did you try verifying with the ISP that they are not blocking any port traffic? Some ISP's in smaller rural areas don't give you a public IP address, so the port forwarding doesn't work. I'm not sure what would cause it to be open sometimes, though.

The VP40 card requires the VP-100 DOM Chip. The DOM (Disk on Module) contains the drivers, as well as the Linux kernel and DVR software. To my knowledge, there is no way to use the VP40 card in a Windows PC.

The DOM chip plugs into a parallel ATA header on the motherboard, and the system must be set to boot from it. Beware: this DOM chip will not support most newer hardware, so you may run into compatibility issues with newer motherboards and graphics cards.

This is Netvision software, or some skin of it. It uses Hikvision brand capture cards. Hikvision also used to have their own version of the Netvision software, but has recently started using their own software instead.
