  1. I'm running 8.2 with Axis megapixel. Looks good so far. Image from the 207MW is as good as any other IP NVR software. Havn't got the IO working yet though. Had an issue with wireless 207MW today. Seems that Geo starts recording 30 sec clips after a lost connection to the cam. Will check if this is the case with wireless only tomorrow, but it sure smells like a bug.

Problem with geovision and sony hq1 cameras

I have seen the same, cams are good with 1240 but lousy with 600. Got a mail from Geo today with a request to borrow one of the bad image cams. So I'll going to send them one of my Ernitech domes. I really hope that it is possible to make a softfix on this.

Thank you Raymond! That means that I'm not crazy after all Have you installed those EZ cams om a GV600 system before without the problem? I got a LG minidome the other day. Those are cams that I have on existing 600 systems with very good images. I will test the GV systems with that cam to see if it still give a good image. In that case Sony 453 and LG are the only cams that works on 600 and 800 systems

Problem with geovision and sony hq1 cameras

Attaching a terrible image from an Ernitec dome cam and GV600-6. Note the vertical lines. The image pulsate very quick every 3:d second. The good looking guy in the red t-shirt is me Hello everybody! The other guy is the other half of the company.

Problem with geovision and sony hq1 cameras

Yup, I'm guessing on the color sync signal. It seems that the span is to narrow on the GV650 cards. I can't prove it though, got no instrument to measure the IRE. I spoke to a Mirasys distributor and he reqognized the symptoms. Mirasys had the exact same problem a couple of years ago. They fixed it by putting the settings for the color sync into the register instead. @Rory: I've tried down to 8.0 soft without any difference. I know I had good pictures with GV250 and 8.0. It has to be something different with the 650 cards.

Problem with geovision and sony hq1 cameras

Hi Rory! I got problem with KPC cams too. Ernitec domes generates a terrible image. LG mini domes and Sony gives an acceptable (sellable) image. All cams work perfect with 1240 and above cards. Looks like the happy days with budget cards are over. Usually I used 250 cards for smaller installs like 1 to 3 cams. The image was fairly good and the framerate was fine with the "Smart" option. Todays 650 cards cant match those 250 cards Tested about 5 different 650 cards from different batches in several pc:s without any difference. Testing Geo 8.2 with IP cams now but there are glitches and bits and parts missing there. The image is superb though. @Andy: Geovision have a load of images and info from me. Look for support items from Sweden. If you like to have the supportID, please PM me.

Problem with geovision and sony hq1 cameras

Hi, I got the same problem but the other way around. Sony 453 works perfect but other brands gives the vertical lines at edges. The image looks terrible! Iv'e built GV250 machines that gets a lot better images! The problem only occures on GV800 cards and below. GV1240 gives a perfect image with the same cameras. I mailed images of the problem to Geo support, but havn't got any good reasons for the lines yet. Have you got around the problem yet?

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

This is probably a very basic question, but I need to be sure. When I build a Geo system and I need to make a quick check of the card or something, I usually plug in a DVD to a video input. The compressed video from the DVD looks excelent in Geo. I will never get as good image from a cctv cam even with really expensive cams in perfect light. The strange thing is that a good cctv cam plugged directly to the tv does produce an excelent image, close to the dvd quality. Why is the cam image more affected by the comression? The cams used to produce the DVD image is of course very very expensive stuff.
  9. Anybody tried any face recognition software? I looked around a bit and found this: http://www.identix.com Guess it's pricey though

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

Cable is the same in my example. A short (2 meter) koax. Lens used in this case is auto-iris zoom lens. Not the most expensive, but not the cheap crap. Focus is set on 19" tft monitor aiming at a test sheet. Have you seen any cams that have a good noice reduction that dosn't blur the image?

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

    1. I agree to Rory in that case. I never use a cams with less then 480 lines. 2. My example is in a lab enviroment with excelent light. I should have mentioned that. Sorry. That camcorder experiment is interesting. Have anybody else done this experiment with tha same result? It is interesting that a cheap camcorder is cheaper then a really good ccvt cam. Wouldn't look so good with camcorders hanging from the roof though (but it would include autofocus an a nice zoom )

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

Jepp, thats must be it. Most cams seems to have S/N ratio between 45-55. Is there any cams on the market with higher rate?
  13. Orion

    DVD signal vs CCTV cam

Yup, I do know about compression. The question is as follows: 1. CCTV cam --> TV (or monitor) = Very good image. 2. TV signal (or DVD) --> Geo system = Excelent image. (With compression. 3. CCTV cam --> Geo system = Not-as-good-as-expected image. I'm puzzled of the signal noice in case 3 even with really good cams. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my question. I've used cctv cams through sonys videoserver and Milestone as soft, produces a better image then the Geo system. I've used Mirasys stuff with sony cams and that gives a very good image. It is strange that Geo produces the low quality with a cctv cam but not with a DVD signal input. In a Mirasys system the difference is smaller.

    Language files Geo

I played around with the ini files in the Geovision system to translate the system to Swedish. Anybody knows how the system of the ini files works? That is has anybody done a translation of a Geo system before? Rory, you might have some clues for me?
  15. Orion

    Language files Geo

I have translated alot of the menus, but the trouble is that much of the textstrings ar double or tripple in different ini files. So there has to be a system telling which ini file contains which info. On the other hand I'll guess that there is a limit where it's not possible to translate. Text that is embedded in the code.

    Is this good quality?

What is the brand on the DVR? The pics look a bit lowres. Edit: Ahhh, Rory covered it all in the other thread.

    Geovision Control Centre

Looks just like mine. Works ok on 7.04 for me. I'll test 8.01 tonight. One thing that I found is that some of the events goes crazy sometimes and then it refuses to login. Will look into that to

    Geovision Control Centre

Autologin is solved. I havn't tried the security feature with the random numbers yet. It is possible to get the DB info separate and put them into a collection or a own defined object, in that case you don't need the treestruct in the activeX. Which means that you can use "FixedScreen" mode and that you can resize. I'll try to make an inheritace from the activeX to be able to add some more methods, that would be handy

    Geovision Control Centre

Resize solved and I might have solved the sync. Give me a couple of days and I'll send you a demo application.

Have you looked inte the RPBX ocx control? I've played with it for a hour and it seems possible to do a decent remote player of it. The problem is how to sync multiple instances of RPBX. It doesn't seems to be possible to access the dlls from VB. I'll check with some C++ buddies to see if any of them can create a wrapper.

I'm on! Have you looked into the existing ActiveX stuff that is avalible in the Geo structure? I've created an app that streamed livedata through the ActiveX, but it lacks some features. I was also thinking of running the API through COM which will be better. It would be a lot easier with the API documentation though. It would be very interesting to know the API to the Control Center stuff, but I guess that Geo uses some type of VNC for that. I will install VB6 on my Geo computer today and use the object browser to see what I can find there.

Just let me know if there is someting I can do to help. VB is my backyard .
  23. Orion

    Geovision Control Centre

Yeah, I know, but if it was possible to run Geos main interface by remote (not VNC) it would have been better then Chance-I and Avermedia. The only thing that would be missing is the timeline. What soft do you use for your remoteprogram? C++, VB or something else? If it's VB or Python I can give you a hand if you like.

Good to know! Usb key isn't that tempting really. To bad, control center could have lifted Geo way above other DVR soft.
