  1. Old topic, but I have a few suggestions unless you've already tried these.

    Uninstalling GeoVision will not delete all files and registry. So try one of these two;

    • 1. Search for Passuninstall.exe - this GV .exe should uninstall whatever your password is. Not sure if your version of GeoVision has this option.
      2. Delete registry values. You need to make sure you delete the right ones.

  2. Hello,

Looking to set up an AXIS 233D camera with 2-way audio, so somebody at a computer can communicate with people behind the building. Requested by building management. AXIS camera -> switch -> network with NVR and other PCs.

This specific camera has the follwing i/o terminal ports for Line/Mic In, GND, Line Out, GND, 12V OUT, GNC/DC-, AC/DC+, AC.

If anybody has any previous knowledge of 2-way audio or other ideas for products, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

  3. I have a outdoor IP Camp model: FI8903W. It worked great when I first got it but gave me too many false alarms, so I took it down (after one month of use) and stored it for a year. Now I need it again for a different site, so I got it out again. I hooked it up to my router with the Ethernet cable to set it up, but it is not showing up for some reason. I have tried everything. I swapped the power source, changed the Ethernet cable, tried a different router, hooked it directly to my computer with the ethernet cable. I have tried several IP scan tools and even logged into the router and checked the DHCP client table. It is not showing up anywhere.

I know the camera is on because I can see the IR lights glowing. The green and yellow lights on the camera ethernet connector also light up when I plug the ethernet cable in. I have pushed the reset button many times too.

I have no idea what it could be. The camera was working fine when I stored it. Can anyone please help me!!!

Perhaps you set a static IP on the camera and that's why it's not showing up on your new network. Try restarting the camera to factory defaults. Should be a restart button on there somewhere as the previous poster mentioned...

  4. Alright, so after reading my previous post, my question sounds kind of confusing.

After some searching, I found this FAQ post on the AXIS website that helps a little.

    http://www.axis.com/techsup/faq/index.php/?action=artikel&&cat=175&id=115871&artlang=en&highlight=

I'm able to set my default view in my web browser to panorama. My only problem is that when I add the AXIS M3007 to my GeoVision NVR, it still shows the fish eye view.

Anybody know how to fix this?

  5. Using GeoVision NVR and trying to implement an AXIS M3007-PV.

I'm familiar with a handful of other AXIS cameras, but this one is giving me a little trouble. I think I'm just being stupid and missing something very small.

The default view for M3007 is basically a "fisheye" view. I want GeoVision to be viewing the Panorama or any other kind of view. How do I change that? In the http interface, it gives you a dropdown menu on the main screen, but I assume that's just for http live view purposes. There has to be something in the setup menu that I'm missing to make the camera default to a certain stream profile/view.

Also while adding M3007 into GeoVision, there's no selection for M3007 in the drop down menu. I was thinking maybe it was under Protocol > ONVIF, but after some quick research M3007 doesn't even support ONVIF. Where is it?!

GeoVision changelogs link, version 8.5.7.0. Wasn't aware there was 8.5.8.0, but that doesn't matter.

  6. Hello CCTV

I've never had to deal with license plate viewing for security cameras. These would be at the entrance of a parking garage that has a gate. Low and high light. POE.

Been looking at the Q1604-E, but realized how expensive it is(+/-$1,200). I need to go on location to figure if I truly need 2 cameras or not... but I would prefer not to. Looked into the lens "Fujinon Varifocal Megapixel Lens 15-50mm" to attach to a Q1604-E to possibly get rid of the second camera, but I am not sure how that would effect license plate viewing.

On another thread somebody suggested an AXIS IP-VE dome camera but I am not sure which one it was...

    So my final questions are...

Which camera is best for this scenario?

What do you think about that lens? Good for license plate viewing with that wide view?

    Thank you for your time

  7. Hello CCTV

I was wondering what everybody thinks of each company, GeoVision and AXIS.

Basically, the company I work for uses AXIS cameras, and I have switched them over to GeoVision software from AverDigi & unknown 3rd party software named DVR2400. Using AXIS cameras with GeoVision software, you need to purchase the NVR license. My boss purchases AXIS cameras because he knows a rep from CDW; they don't sell GeoVision products. However, if you purchase GeoVision cameras, it is my understanding that you don't need to purchase the NVR license and you have unlimited IP camera channels.

Assuming that last statement is correct, what do you guys think of GeoVision IP cameras? I like the http interface for AXIS cameras; they are very easy to set up with very few problems. Is the GeoVision http interface similar to AXIS? Roughly the same? Positives/Negatives of each? Similar physical installation?

If I get positive feedback, my next step would be to find out how much my boss is paying for the AXIS products, because I've never seen an invoice. If I can save the company money in the long term by purchasing GeoVision cameras without the NVR, that would be a huge plus.

    Thank you for your time!!

  8. For anybody else that ever as this issue, just reinstall the program. It was definitely a bug, cause I couldn't even view the IP's of the cameras that were still up in LIVE view.

Not sure if it was because of an older version of GeoVision, cause I believe I upgraded from 8.2 to 8.4... but re-installation fixed it.

  9. I'm using the newest GV as well with mostly new AXIS cameras. Seems to work fine for me. I'll have anywhere between 4-16 IP cameras on each DVR, as well as whatever old analog cameras were previously installed, running on GeoVision.

Starting out, only problems I had were on my side. Not using the settings properly aka auto boot in both GV and the BIOS settings.

AXIS camera wise, they should all be compatible.

hi can some one tell me if i need to purchase a gv-usb dongle in order to add an onvif outdoor camera? i have 4 GV-MFD110 domes but i need an ir outdoor bullet.. i saw an onvif camera that costs 250usd but i dont know if it will integrate to my 8.5 multicam rightaway =9,

@kronix it should integrate right away, especially if it's a GV camera. Check the GV software manual and Camera manual just to double check. I haven't had a single IP camera not compatible with GeoVision yet... and I only use AXIS cameras.

  10. Hey Rich, try lowering the fps and/or raising the compression on the http interface of the cameras if they have that option.

I had to do the same for a recent ftp IP camera server I ran because they ate up so much bandwidth. I believe my AXIS cameras default fps is 30. I set them all for 3-5 fps at the time.

Lower compression = Higher quality, more bandwidth, larger file size

Higher compression = Lower quality, lower bandwidth, lower file size

Depending on what you're watching and your type of camera, it won't make too much of a difference quality-wise to turn down the fps and up the compression.

I have also never had that many cameras on a DVR before. I hope you have a good CPU and plenty of RAM

  11. Hello!

I'm running GV-1120. I have an 8 IP Camera USB License. I haven't had many problems with it until now. All of the sudden one of my IP cameras went blank in the software, but I can view at the same IP in a web browser. When I try to install another IP camera, it says "Connected Failed. Limited by USB Key. The number is 0."

The rest of my cameras work... I have 5 other AXIS cameras, and this other camera randomly stopped working on the software roughly 2-3 days ago according to their front desk staff. The USB stick is still plugged in, hence the other cameras staying up.

    Anybody else having this problem?

Thank you for reading and I truly do appreciate your help
