I find it amusing that people have so much concern about the DVR being stolen. Why isn't a bit more effort put into the first line of defence which is entry to the premises. To concede that entry will take place and then put so much importance in the safety of the DVR seems misguided to me. It only takes a hoodie & sunglasses to make most cctv footage useless. Spend more effort on securing the premises and a quality security system that lights up the area/premises so as to encourage them to leave.

What you had were standard analogue "crappy cables" and now you have HD analogue "crappy cables" Give your existing ones a try - they may work ok. The cables you have are not coax they are simply shielded audio cables.

Why would you bother. With the price of analogue cameras as they are just bin it & buy replacements

One more thing - A TVI signal (QAM modulation) will not display directly on a composite monitor , it needs to be demodulated (by the dvr) before being displayed. TVI cameras will normally have a pair of leads which . when shorted, will switch the video to composite for setting up purposes and will cause the video output to be composite whilever the leads are joined
