I'm looking into upgrading my 4 channel GE TruVision to a 16 channel DVR. I will be adding 4 more cameras to my system. All of these cameras are analog cameras. I'm trying to figure out what is the most recommended brand/model of DVRs currently on the market. ThanksThere is a lot of DVRs in the market that you can use. I would recommend you to use Visio or HIKvision. Depends on your location.

Any help would be appreciated greatly......I have a new install i just completed and for ease of explaining i will limit the problem to 2 cameras instead of the total of 9 installed....1-Everfocus Ecor 16 channel dvr
2-Polestar EZ610 Cameras
2-Hunt video baluns
1-Altronix 24vac power supply
Problem-Bleed over on shared cat 5 cable.
I have a run of about 500 feet of cat 5e cable. I am using orange/blue for one camera with a video balun and using brown/green for the other video balun. When both of them are connected i get bleed over from one of the images. I have tried everything i know but can't seem to clear it up. Each camera has it's on power supply wire back to the altronix power supply.....?
You may need a Active-Active Balun. It will not work if you use passive-active balun or passive-passive.

Any idea what configurations for such long range cameras? Or is there any at all?You need a Media Converter. From RJ45 convert to fiber optics. And 20km you need to use a single mode type.

Hi I would recommend you to go for VGA option. Mainly because the resolution for this particular unit is the same for both HDMI and VGA.
And VGA will be a cheaper option. But you need a VGA entender.

All DVR remote settings will be similar, but if it's on a 2wire router, I suggest you change your router as it does not support DDNS function. Meaning to say your router will not update the IP address if your ISP will to change the IP address.
Setup of DVR for remote viewing will be possible if within singapore. Market rate will be ranging from SGD$150~$200 per set-up.

I think you should go for HD IP cameras if you still think the one with spa is not sharp enough.
Bare in mind that cameras besides the resolution in TV lines. It also has lens difference. Meaning to say the focus of an object near may be clearer with smaller lens eg 2.8,3.6 or 4mm
if you go for more tele lens eg 6mm and above distance object will appear sharper, however closer details (object near to the camera) will be gone.
Another factor will be your playback resolution and preview resolution. is it in 4CIF? or just CIF. CIF will not give you a very good picture as compared to 4CIF. Check also the bit rate that you set for your camera. it will affect the picture resolution too.

I have connected DVR to Router (TP Link Model MR3220). Router connects to Internet via 3G USB Dongle provided by ISP OR WAN connection via ADSL Broadband connection. Router is configured for DDNS. Router is also correctly configured for Port forwarding.DVR is remotely accessible while Router is connected via ADSL Broadband connection wherein ISP assigns public IP Address to my connection.
Under 3G Cellular Modem connection (USB Dongle), ISP assigns Private IP Address to my connection. IP Address gets updated to my Dyndns.org Host Account everytime my IP Address changes.
When I try to Login to this Private IP address from remote Computer / Browser, I am not able to connect to my Router / DVR. I can access my DVR while it is connected via ADSL connection & public IP Address.
I'm not sure if your location is in Singapore. But since you've signed up with Dyndns.org. you should sign in using the host name you've created. eg CCTV.dyndns.org:1000 where 1000 is your http port, usually http port is 80(default).

Well I hid most of the DVR in a false ceiling where there will be power supply and network switch hidden there as well.

Hi there,
you have to download the right software on Ipohone inorder to view. for example. HIK vision DVR uses ivms4500.
find this application on your apps store.
another possibility may be your settings is wrong. make sure the internal port is set correctly.

Hi Cloudy,
You could buy the DVR from any supplier, just make sure that it's PAL and not NTSC. As singapore uses PAL for viewing. and for Hard Disk part. It's better to get a 24/7 hard disk. Try not to get a normal hard disk for computer. It will fails within a short time.
