  1. Ahhhh I see I see, only 80mbps eh..... maybe I shall keep looking or do some more research to see how big of a difference a few mbps will change the playback. Thanks for your help!
  2. Thanks for the help MT! So how am I supposed to know how many cameras at high fps this thing can handle? I cant find it anywhere. Money is not a problem i just want a good NVR. So your saying hook one monitor to the vga port and one to the HDMI port? Vga is HD? Totally didnt know that lol
  3. I am looking at the Hikvision DS-7716NI-SP/16 Why would it be a mistake?
  4. Hey all, I am looking for an excellent company here in Canada that sells Dahua. Amazon.ca has very few options. Better idea to buy straight from China? What do you guys think?
  5. Thanx Bhawan but I don't see what I'm looking for Anybody else have a source for Dahua or Hikvision? preferably with prices
  6. So after returning our Q-see systems to Costco we bought the $2500 "AvertX 8 Channel HD NVR Security System with 3TB HDD and 4 IP Auto focus Dome Cameras" system hoping it would work for us. Nowhere did I see what the fps was, not on Costco's website, Avertx's website or the box/manual that came with the system. I just assumed it was 30 fps, after all it is an expensive system. After hooking the first camera up I went to play with the NVR to see how it was... Well they only do 15 fps. $2500 for a four camera system it should be spitting gold bars at me damn it. Uhhh why is it so hard to find a decent system from somebody with a winning return policy like Costco. Anywho the day video was great but the night video was baaaaad, super grainy but a lot of people put that in their reviews of the system on costco.com so I expected it. The software on the NVR was nice and easy to use and the camera's are built like tanks. Just to bad I get a headache when watching 15 fps for any extended period of time. So back to costco they go. FYI, I emailed them asking if there was any setting I could change to get 30 fps per channel and they said I'm lucky to get 15 as most installations get 7 -10 fps..... So now that I'm done with costco camera's anybody have a Canadian source for Dahua systems with great service?
  7. I hear what your saying The 3MP was just a bonus, I was going to leave it at 1080p 30fps. The cameras are 3mp, so says the sticker on the box... the cameras themselves say 2mp on them. 3TB is doable for me if it would have let me record 1080p at 30fps, I did have the option of another HD if i desiered. Some people had a bit of success playing with the settings to reduce the noise but most didnt or felt it still wasn't good enough. At first I wanted go with dahua but I didnt know anything about these systems so I chose to go with Costco but now I have a bit more knowledge I am definitely going that route. Just need to find a good Canadian source for dahua.
  8. These only do 1 to 15 fps period, nothing higher then 15 fps. Not even at lower resolutions.
  9. So we took our Q-see systems back a while ago and know we are looking at http://www.costco.com/AvertX-16-Channel-NVR-with-4TB-HDD-and-10-Autofocus-3MP-HD-IP-Dome-Cameras.product.100097394.html It has 3MP resolution vari focal cameras, the NVR records up to 3MP, but the display resolution on the NVR is only 1080P. Now why would one spend so much money upgrading to 3MP when you can only view 1080P? My monitors are only 1080P, What am I missing?
  10. Huh, maybe I will just pull the trigger on the 4 camera set and see how it goes then.
  11. Interesting, So is this package to much money for what I'm getting then? They come in a 4 camera set up as well, which is another option but if I'm not going to see a huge difference then what the hell. I was really hoping to buy the cameras from costco cause of there return policy.
  12. So I bought 2 of the "Model: QC818-4C9-2 " systems from Costco and paid $600 to have them installed around the exterior of the house a few days ago. For the life of me I cannot get both NVR's to allow more then 1 camera each NVR to use the 1080P setting. I get the "channel 1 does not support configuration search or modification" error on 3 of the cameras when I try and change the settings. 3 on each NVR is stuck in 960x480 mode. I have done the online chat at the Q-see website twice and they cannot figure it out either so I was supposed to get a call tonight but have not yet and its after 10pm. We have tried changing the camera brand, channels, resolution, FPS, bit rate, deleting and reinstalling the camera, resetting the factory settings on the NVR and physically verified all model numbers of cameras were correct(1080P). and few others i cant remember. The 2 cameras that do 1080P I am not impressed with at all, I cannot read the big emblem on my BBQ from 20' away and forget zooming in on anything at all, it crops the picture so much you see nothing but massive pixels. Nice picture when the screen displays all 4 cameras at once though. I went back last night to watch myself leaving for work at 4am. Decent night vision but the main camera didn't even record me leaving the front door! All of the sudden I am at my car opening the door like magic on another camera. They are all set to record on motion. I dunno I'm just not feeling these cameras. The software is something to be desired as well. Seen several glitches as well as a few WTF moments. Not user friendly... Unless you like acronyms. You should be able drag the mouse over an option and it should tell you what it does not just randomly guess or go through the manual every time you see an acronym. Now this is funny... They are not a 65 to 70 degree angle cameras like Costco claims, they are 50 degrees as per Q-see's website. They are zoomed in pretty close, in some cases to far for my liking. Oh and screens are brand spanking new BenQ GL2760H's using HDMI. At any rate I am thinking of returning these to costco cause I am not a happy camper.
  13. milkisbad, It's the software on the NVR it self, 3 of their techs couldn't even figure it out and I'm still waiting for that phone call from them LoL. Thanx for your help though.
  14. milkisbad, Thanx bro but I am done with these bafoon's. buellwinkle, I will look in to those, thanx for the help. I see a Dahua IPC-HDBW8301 that looks interesting.... Boogieman, No I won't be sitting there 24/7 but it would sure be nice to have the option to move one or 2 of them. I am taking the system down tomorrow and returning it, lesson learned i guess.
  15. Thanx buellwinkle, After another poor experience tonight with Q-See support I am for sure taking these down and they are going back. Can you suggest a good quality POE 3MP PTZ camera that has a wide angle like 70 degrees and a good NVR capable of 4 maxed out 3MP cameras and is user friendly? I need to put together a better system but stay around the 2K mark.
  16. They were on sale $899CDN for the NVR and 4 1080P cameras. Thats a pretty good deal for what I've found online and the system has great reviews on amazon.com . Question... are these 1080P cameras equal to 1.3 MP? I Am looking at getting some other type of system with all PTZ cameras instead so I need to figure out if I should go 1.3 or higher.
  17. I wanted to buy the Lorex or Swann but everytime I walk up to it at the store I can barley recognize myself from 10' away. I just bought a couple of thesehttp://www.costco.ca/Q-See%c2%ae-8-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-2-TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-1080p-IP-Cameras.product.100120827.html.
  18. This http://www.costco.ca/Q-See%c2%ae-8-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-2-TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-1080p-IP-Cameras.product.100120827.html is the product I am looking at. I am thinking of going with 2 of these systems because i would get more storage and save money. I did my research before but I have forgotten how this works LoL so it says 240 fps recording total, now does that include playback and live view? I would like to get 30 fps across all 4 cameras for recording/playback and live view for 2 weeks at a time... This seems like a great system but it does not give very much information unlike the other models who state... "Live display resolution: 1920 x 1080 (30fps per camera) Playback resolution: 1080p (1920 x 1080 120fps total/15fps per camera) Recording frame rate: 1080p (1920 x 1080 120fps total/15fps per camera)" If the SDI 8 channel 4 camera package says 120 fps total would that mean 15fps if you had 8 cameras hooked up or 15fps with only the 4 camera's it comes with? You would think they would make this a bit more clear for people who have never had one before. Thanx for any help!
  19. Hi, Msecure It does look like a good deal then if does do it all at 30 fps. I'm not rockin the SDI, the less cable the better So 4 camera's at 30fps on 1080P recording 24/7.... How do you calculate the recording time again? Thanx for your help!
  20. Curious to see how it compares to this one. http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-channel-HD-SDI-Security-System-with-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-4-High-Resolution-Cameras.product.100040999.html

    Choices choices....

Talked to the other half and we decided to get 2 of the 8 channel units once they go on sale!
  22. First let me ask you about SDI. It runs through coaxial cable but needs another cable run for power correct? If so what are the advantages of SDI because running twice the cable as PoE is time and money. So I'm looking at these 2 systems. 1 of thesehttp://www.costco.ca/Q-See%C2%AE-16-Channel-SDI-3TB-DVR%2c-with-8-HD-1080P-SDI-Camera-Kits.product.100042103.html or 2 of thesehttp://www.costco.ca/Q-See%C2%AE-8-Channel-SDI-2TB-DVR%2c-with-4-HD-1080P-SDI-Camera-Kits.product.100037545.html I can save $140 and gain 1TB by buying 2 of the second options. Plus I can keep the DVR's in different locations incase I am forced to give "one" up. Both can do 8 cameras at 30fps so it seems like a no brainer here. What is it about SDI that I am missing? And why would Costco just put that option 1 up for so much more then 2 option 2's? Makes no sense right? Thanx for your help!

    Choices choices....

Perfect! Thank you for helping me understand! I hope Costco will upgrade the specs/price on the 16 channel system, bum deals should be less money not more.

    Choices choices....

Good to know I'm not crazy! Thanks for the pic but am I'm seeing the 8 channel has no live view? EDIT: The websites say's Live Display Resolution is 1080p. What about SDI? am I right about running 2 lines(1 power & 1 data) or did I miss something? Seems like these are made for people who already have cameras and want to upgrade the quality without running new lines.... Which sucks for people without installed systems.
  25. Thanx but I need a good warranty like Costco's lol The 60ips playback has me stumped on this unit.
