  1. I bought my NVR and cameras few years back and I would like to upgrade my camera's but all the new ones use .265.

I would like to update my closed system nvr to record in 265 for all my cameras to save on space(even old ones if thats possible??)

I have 2 new camera's that are 265 but yet to install them, I will be ordering myself 4 more varifocal 265 cameras soon but I want to know if its possible to update my nvr to record in 265. Half my cameras will be 265 and the other half are older 264..... What are my options here?? Thanks!

  2. I unhooked a single HDD and looked to see how much time it had saved on it and did the same to the other HDD and they both have around the same amount of time on each HDD. Now I don't know how cloning works so maybe it does not copy one exact HDD to the other instead copying from both HDD's and creating a exact image on the other HDD's. But maybe it isn't the clone option... what other settings could cause me to lose half of my recording time?

  3. I set all camera's at 4mb and now have 5 days of recording time.

I have a suspicion that one HDD is being cloned and that is why I am getting half of what I am supposed to but the menu does not tell me if I am using the clone option or not and does not have any information to show if it is or isn't. I just find it odd that it is exactly half of what I am supposed to be getting... Sound familiar to anyone?

  4. For the life of me I can't figure out why I am only getting 4 days of recording time from my NVR when it used to be 2 weeks.

I have 6TB and 14 two/three mega pixel camera's that record 24/7. Now when I had 9 camera's I got 2 weeks recording time but I added 5 more camera's and it brought it down to 4 days.?.?.? I checked everything I could think of including error tests and all but because It's a closed system Nellys can't do much without looking at it. Can someone suggest something I can do please?

  5. I use a 2.8mm as well, not the greatest as i need it high enough for someone not to hit it but low enough for a lucky face rec shot.

As for viewing on your tv i hooked a 50' VGA cable from my Hikvision DS-7731NI-SP in the basement up through the ceiling downstairs to the living room upstairs and plugged it into the PC port on the back of my Samsung tv. Now when I want to watch the cameras I hit the source button on the tv remote till I get "PC" and bam there I go.

Now if you want to be lazy like me and not go down stairs every time you want to play with your camera's I would also install a 50' USB cable with a repeater built in (cheap on amazon) and run that beside your VGA cable and now you can hook up a wireless mouse beside your tv and control your NVR in the comfort of your favorite couch!

    Good luck!

  6. I would like a UPS to keep my system recording for at least a few hours after the power goes out, (hopefully longer)I was thinking of getting a CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD but I have no idea how long it will last for. I know my camera's use 5 watts each but the NVR I have no idea, I tried looking it up and all I see is wattage numbers for this that and the other thing.... I'm Lost.

    My system consists of a Hikvision DS-7732-NI-SP with 2 3TB HDD, Six DS-2CD2732-IS camera's and four more DS-2CD2132-I camera's.

What would you recommend to get?

  7. I did the 4 camera AvertX thing for my house and returned them.

They did not specify what the fps is, for me I wanted 30fps. They are actually 15 fps.... I had to contact them directly to get that info oddly enough. The software on the NVR is better then Q-see but still much to be desired. The digital vari focal camera's were great!

    I now have a 200MB 32 channel Hikvision DS-7732NI-SP running 6 of the DS-2CD2732F-IS camera's and 4 of the DS-2CD2132-I camera's.

I could not be happier with this system. The NVR is easy to use and lets you customize just about everything.... except getting a ""hallway view" can't do that one. You should seriously look into this option before spending that much money.

Either way you go, Good Luck!

  8. I will try but I don't think it will be enough light. I have 5000 lumens from 2 CFL bulbs on my 20x30 driveway and its not enough. They need to have a reflector behind them directing the light instead of wasting it all over the place. I think you are right about washing out the faces... but I have to try to make sure. Maybe I will get 2 spots and 2 floods instead.... Hmmm i think the floods might annoy my neighbors though... we will see.

  9. I previously tried to do the PoE to PC with no luck, nothing comes up software wise.

I didn't even think about using dahuas tools... I will give that a shot.

Good tip about mixing cameras, I will keep an eye on it.

    Thanks a bunch!

    EDIT:

I am on Windows 64 which one am I supposed to use to change the ip? There are a gazillion of them and I have not a clue which one is which

  10. Current system is a Hikvision 7732NI-SP NVR with six Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-IS camera's but.... I need a few more cameras

I bought two Q-see QCN8012B cameras but I am assuming I have to change the IP addy seeings how they don't work on the NVR, So I hooked the cameras and computer to the PoE injector but nothing comes up. I would have thought the cameras would have software built into them for plug and play on PC.?.?.? I went to Q-see's site but remote viewing isn't what I am after and the camera's didn't come with any software.

Can someone shed some light on how I can make these camera's work please.

  11. Thats a nice chart, been researching for a long time and never seen that before. Very helpful!

I am going to order the 32 channel from nellys as soon as they confirm which brand of hard drives they are going to put in it.

I've heard from several people that at 3mp you cant tell the difference between 11mbps and 4 or 5mbps. Most say its a waste to go higher. Wouldn't it be ideal for being able to digitally zoom in closer? it seems im the only one who thinks its a good idea lol
