STEP BY STEP HELP NEEDED PLEASE..!! NEWBIE..

Another way so you don't have to mess with a static. Let your DVR get an IP then in your router setup reserve that IP for the DVR. Now everytime it gets a DHCP address it will be the same. -
I just bought a complete system. 8 channel dvr, 3 bullets, 3 domes, and all the install goodies for $1100. Another $230 for the power supply and 2TB hard drive.

I completely understand your point. I just did this recently asking a pro for advise. I would have gladly paid him for an hours worth of counciltation if he would have asked for it but instead spent an hour telling me how much bettter of a job he could do instead of me doing it myself. At the same price. I'm the type of person who does it myself and will gladly hire the person that takes the time to assist the DIYer. Since he opted for giving me a sales pitch I will hire the next person on my list of contacts. -
Hey all! First post. Just got my digital watchdog dvr dw-vmax480 and four DW cameras DW-B362DIR. I was really hoping for an easier in stall for my first attempt but that would be entirely too easy. At the moment I'm not impressed with the cameras. I need good focus and a mid to wide angle. Any suggestions in the $200 - $300 range? Additionally I need a small portable screen to use the camera OSD. Suggestions? Thanks!

I'm throwing the towel and starting over. I'm going to RMA cameras and dvr back. The cable wasn't the issue. I bought 100 ft of RG59 and the video is no different than it is with the less expensive pre-made cables. Looking for guidelance on a residentual build. Based on what learned so far I might need the Dahua 16 Channel NVR Hi Def Network Video Recorder for IP cameras.

What dvr did you finally decide to got with? I have been trying to setup digital watchdog all weekend and still can get a descent image at any distance outside of few feet. Thanks -
I have a digital watchdog dvr and cameras. Both have motion detection. What purpose does motion detection on a camera serve? I thought the dvr handled all motion detection. Can turn of the option on the camera? Thanks

I expect what I see in your videos.

How do I know what is a good cable..? These were premade and there isn't marking on them. So really don't know the brand.
-
So I think I found part of the issue. The image seems to be pretty good if I use a short 2 foot cable. Only when use the 100 ft premade cables do I see issue with fuzziness and blurred images. That might be why a can get it focused... Is there any difference in cable quality? These are suppose to be 18/2. Thanks

Soundy, Would this work with a bnc-coxial adapter? http://www.amazon.com/RCA-7%2522-Portable-TV-RTV86073/dp/B0056K1YEA/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1339152071&sr=8-6

http://www.digital-watchdog.com/product_camera/camera_main_In.asp?category=Omni-Focus&id=13 On my exisiting camera I have a zoom and and another dial that has T and W. Is that the only lens adjustments? The manual that came with these camera are pretty much worthless for newb like me.
-
Would a omni focal be a better option? Doesn't sound like I will be able to get both viewing distances from one camera. Thanks
-
These are varifocal. That's probably the issue. These have such a narrow focal length. I need a camera I can make out a face at 40 feet and read a license plate at 20 feet.

I forgot to mention. I'm rural total darkness.

Image quality for sure. I haven't had enought time to make a day or night time judgement yet. Thanks for the info
