  1. Hello,

Am new to ip cameras and am wondering is it possible to run more than one ip camera over a cat6 cable? as i dont want to run individual cables to each camera as they are very far away from the nvr

Thanks for your time and help

Yes, you can attach a switch at the camera end and then run shorter cables to each camera....thats the beauty of ip cameras...if the cameras are POE then you will need a poe switch...

    Thank you for your reply,

Does it matter if the nvr has POE built in?

  2. Hi. Your first link is only a dvr ......... And that price you can get 4 in the UK with HD

Your second is a NVR but again price is too high.

Which IP cameras are you thinking of using ?

Thanks for your reply the first one says that it is a Hd Hybrid nvr dvr ?

Am not sure what cameras prob just 2 or 3 mega pixel dome cameras and i would like to ad a ptz camera in the future

were would you suggest i get a cheaper nvr thats as good of quality?

    Thanks

  3. If your router doesn't have No-ip in the list, you can't use No-ip. You'll have to use dyndns and set up an account there. A free account there is a total hassle. They don't really want you to have a free account, so they make you work for it. Check the options in the dvr. If No-ip is in the list you can put the info in it and the dvr will be the updater instead of the router. Last resort if you want your free No-ip account, buy a new router and make sure it supports No-ip. Most new ones do.

The router seems to support No-ip but the cctv dvr doesnt. if i log into the router there is a setting dynamic dns which i can set to no-ip. see this link here http://www.tp-link.com/en/article/?faqid=419

is this any help to me? would that give me a static ip address

    Thanks

  4. http://www.noip.com/integrate/request

see link above , you must fill in service info if your dvr does not auto fill in service info .

    i think service = dynupdate.no-ip.com

    DDNS SETTINGS - TURNED ON

SERVIVE - not sure what to put here

    HOST NAME - fergusoncamera.no-ip.biz

    USERNAME - iferguson

    PASSWORD - ********

Thanks for your reply, there only seems to be 3 settings you can choose for this either 3322, dyndns, or perfect eyes ?

my router which the dvr is connect to with the cat5 cable is a tp link TL-WR841N which i have changed the ip address to 192.168.0.2

in the DVR i set the following under network settings too

    WEB PORT - 80

    IP ADDRESS - 192.168.0.100

  6. Hello i am thinking on buying a hd-sdi system but am wondering is it possible to run 4 sdi camera signals down one cat5 with a four way bnc to cat5 splitter? or is there any other cable i could run four signals down? as i only want to run one cable, the distance would be about 50m! or would it be best to go for an ip system and run all cat 5 cables?

the setup would be similar to this in the link below

    http://www.cctvcamerapros.com/4-Channel-Video-Transmitter-p/balun-4phub.htm

    Thanks

  7. Am installing a 4 camera night vision cctv kit at my home, and am wondering what type of cable would be best to buy for this? One of the cameras needs a 50 meter (164 feet) cable from the dvr unit and the other around 70 meters (196 feet). the cameras are 12v and i am hoping to power them from the dvr unit as there is no power near the cameras, so was thinking on RG59 18/2 shotgun cable! So i am wondering would this be the right choice and be able to run the 12v power and video signal that distance?

    Thanks
