    Web Service Problem

I don't think I have PSS(?) software just webrec.cab is prompted to install when accessing the DVR on the network, I've just found out the model though.... http://www.adata.co.uk/files/0b387ce3-e1c8-497b-a22a-9d4300fb1eb3/ZEUS-MK2.pdf In your first quote are you saying I only need to forward HTTP (set as port 80) on the DVR if I am just using Web Service in my IE browser? I'm a little confused! Which of the following inputted in the current forwarding table are correct? (public port 37776 is just an unused port I use to translate through so I can still access the router remotely with just the static IP minus :37776) http://s1216.photobucket.com/albums/dd366/eivissa85/?action=view&current=RouterSettings.jpg#!oZZ2QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs1216.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fdd366%2Feivissa85%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3Droutersettings2.png I've just installed the IE tab in chrome ready to use! PSS comes from the manufacturer of those DVRs, Dahua. Should come with the DVR or you can download it from Dahua's site. Yes the HTTP port is what is used for the browser app, so 37777 does not come into play there. 37777 is used for PSS or their SDK. But forward 80 and 37777 as TCP and 37778 as UDP anyway - what you have now (TCP+UDP) should work as well. Re Port Forwarding, the Public and Local port need to be the same.

    Web Service Problem

Yeah I've tried this earlier and had the same problem...got the Web Service login page but "Time Out" when trying to log in. Now using the same static IP it just won't connect to anything at all...not sure if the router is down? PM sent Try the PSS software instead, the browser one is not that great. Also, try the browser app in Chrome instead, with IE Tabs installed - it runs MUCH better than in IE.

    Web Service Problem

browser is the one you set for HTTP in the DVR, eg. 80 37777 is for PSS, the desktop client software. Once those ports are forwarded you can connect and stream live video. Again, do not use 37777 for the browser, use the HTTP port.
  5. Bought from them over the past year and sent clients to them, my sales agent lives in a cloud though. Looking for another source now. Most orders were fine except the last one, I ordered 6 BW exview bullets and instead they sent 2 low res color, and 3 different types of BW Bullets neither of which were the type I ordered! The products that arrived came out to less and I emailed a couple times regarding credit adjustment and the sales agent kept asking which products I was talking about even though I had emailed them the parts I received. 123 is the same company as surveillance-video.
  6. Typically anything in that price range wont be "great" recording quality, also real time recording in D1 would normally cost more for an 8 channel. Otherwise, couple of the brands listed are normally much more expensive than your budget. Most will probably do what you need though as most of that are basic features in todays DVRs. Save to industry standard though might throw a couple of them off. I like the Dahua DVRs for that actually as you save them as AVI and it can be played with any system that has H.264 installed (eg. Divx). Ive used the CNBs rebranded under another name, cant recall what it saves as, does all the other features though its 7fps max each channel in D1, while Dahua has D1 real time options. Havent used any of the others recently.

Cameras that work with 940nm IR

940nm is approx 20-30% less distance than 840nm, though can up the IR power to compensate in some cases. Manufacturers used to list their spectral response but seems thats a thing of the past now

    GOTCHA! Doorbell ringer caught

Gee sounds just like home .. except add in guns and machetes The UK never used to be that bad .. what happened, mass immigration? I recall a couple years ago visiting the same part of London I had worked and lived in back in 92. The place had trash all over the ground and you could see it went right downhill, probably the UK version of a Ghetto. Course not quite as nasty as what I have to deal with everyday but still .. Almost wanted to move back to the UK .. but with everything going on there now, with the protests FOR sharia law among other things ... dunno

    CenterV2 Full Screen Mode?

Ok anyway .. if I can find out that will be great .. Im doing this for a client right now anyway ... meanwhile here is hack #1 (tested on XP only) The trick is simple: Your current screen resolution needs to be 1280x1024 or higher, set the CenterV2 resolution to 1024x768, Event Log Floating to the right, then change your screen resolution to 1024x768. I made a program that will do this automatically, called XCV2. Just put this in the CenterV2 folder and run this instead of CenterV2.exe. This was tested with CenterV2 version 8.4 (not included). Sample Screenshot: 1024x768 How it works • Closes CenterV2 if its running • Updates the GeoCSvr.ini file to resolution of 0 (1024x768) • Updates the registry to ELPos of 0 (Event log on right) and Twinview of 1 (Event log floating) • Resizes display to 1280x1024 - if we stay in 1024x768, when CenterV2 starts it will show the Event log at the bottom and non floating no matter what is set in the INI or Registry. I could resize to any higher res for this hack to work but 1280x1024 is a standard that most monitors support. If its already 1280x1024 then it wont resize. • Start CenterV2 • Waits for the Eventlog window to appear so it can hide it (I use 2 timers, CenterV2 is a tricky app). Got approx 10 seconds max until it times out and the program exits if it cant find the window. • Resizes the resolution to 1024x768 • CenterV2 should now cover the entire screen without any event log and have a 9, 25, and 36 way view with the control box at the right. Terms This is free software and we are not to be held responsible nor liable for damage from the use or misuse of this software. Requirements Requires a Windows Operating System with Visual Basic 6 Runtimes Requires Geovision CenterV2. Tested on XP SP3 with CenterV2 8.4 Download File Download Now (40KB) NOTE: If you need to run CenterV2 under a user account you will get an error message. To auto run it as an admin every time create a simple batch file or use the following: Create New Text Document, right click EDIT. CenterV2 Full Screen Mode?

Anyone know if there is a "hidden" setting for full screen in CenterV2? Why they dont have a CenterV3 or V4 now??? Ive tried 8.33 and 8.4 versions of CenterV2 and cant find a full screen option anywhere. The layouts are pretty limited too and depend on the screen resolution. I made a hack that makes its own full screen mode but before I clean it up and release it, need to know if there is a setting hidden somewhere for this already. Thanks.
  16. Like what size monitor could handle it, as far as a security officer being able to make anything out? What if on motion the video window with motion became bigger then went back in after 3 seconds or so .. similar to the keypad buttons on the ipad when you click them .. for example. Anyway ... anyone using anything with 128 way multiview right now . and if so what kind of computer is powering it?
  17. I do 36 all the time, and tested my 64 way view for 4 geo DVRs ... though that is small its still handy if you are up close to the monitor .. at distance its useless though. Figured need at least a 27" for 32 to be "okay" Even on a big screen LCD like 36-42 they have, 64 was too small sitting a distance from it. I guess another way is to just do a multiview sequence, scan from one to the next every 3-5 seconds.

  19. Ok so stick with 64 way then?
  20. What if you had a monitor wall or something, maybe big like the one in Times Square

    Geovision V8.4 compatability

Well I have 4 DVRs at a customer im finishing off .. 3 that are a couple years old, running 8.33 (think they originally had 8.30 on them). 1 New one .. I had problems with 8.33, probably was just a bad install, so removed that completely, then installed 8.4 which came with it. 8.4 was using 80-100% CPU usage on both cores using any of the 3 codecs. And this is a Pentium Dual Core 2.93 which Ive used before with 8.33 without issues (different mobo though as they change every week). So went back to 8..33 and its back down to 20-40% CPU .. still ALOT more than 8.12 which is like under 10% even on a slow P4! Geo is going BACKWARDs .. I mean if a 3 Ghz Dual Core CPU cant handle 8.4 then WOW. Then there is the thing with Remote View Log, its not serious but still rediculous, from 8.33 they removed the address book from the Connection window. Now you have to enter an IP or select an IP from the list if you connected previously (which is fine unless you have 4 DVRs and have to remember which IP is which), OR go over to one of the icons on the right then select the address book from there. I mean why make it harder though, makes no sense. I got a reply to my email regarding overlay not working for Geo video on win7, I explained it all to them, they got back to me about how to setup the DVR resolutions etc .. like I dont know that basic stuff already. After lines and lines of info on how to do what I already know and have done many times before, the last line asks me to send them a screen shot of the black borders .. I mean do all these issues only exist with NTSC?? Anyway .. im hardly going to worry anymore, not using them again.

    Windows 7 ultimate 32bit,

Yeah IMO (just my opinion) Geo cards certainly arent worth what they charge for them now, it seems they havent dropped the price on them in years, should be going down in price not staying the same. I still see them as perhaps useful for somewhat budget NVR systems as you get 32 channel NVR software for free with or without a card (installing 8.4 gives you the option of all the different cards, or NVR only). But are stuck with using their IP cameras unless you pay extra for the dongle.

    GV-650/800 V3.52 - On Windows 7

sorry to bump the post. why put people though this rory. all you have to do is switch of password login on dvr. same thing . simple and dont have to down load anything Ok so turn that off ... if they have a DVR that has that feature .. not everyone has a newer DVR ... even so .. the download is still useful as it lets you: 1-Automatically RUNAS admin within a user account, Remote Console will not work otherwise (XP SP3 Verified, 3 Remote Console Versions from old to new). 2-Autoconnect to the DVR, you will manually have to do that yourself otherwise (auto switch). 3-Create Multiple settings files for tons of DVRs and even run them right from for example a jump drive using the installed Remote Console on different PCs, or use one single Remote Console source on the jump drive. I put it together, it works, figured I would put it out there rather than just delete it or keep it to myself. it might not interest you but it might interest someone else. Im not saying anyone even has to use it. It is what it is. My client finds it very useful for their 1304 though by the way here is the readme PDF that shows what it does http://www.bahamassecurity.com/files/document/averauto.pdf

    Windows 7 ultimate 32bit,

When I come across a client that has a superfast computer .. you will be the first to know Even one of the largest companies here I did some work for recently, they had some slow mini dells and IMB laptops even .. most others were using 5 year old celerons also. Now THAT was crazy .. they spend a fortune on other things .. but the computers .. nahhh .. I wasnt there to work on their computers though.

    GV-650/800 V3.52 - On Windows 7

client paid cost price for the geo .. landed around $1500 card and PC parts ... after customs and shipping. nice 4U rack mount case but .. could have sold them a 16 channel Dahua 1U size for $1000 local end user price after markup, and that would have taken 3 minutes to install and setup unlike the Geo. Ive done everything I can with the Geo to get better quality .. locally and with the network software, I have all their latest SDKs and tried them all .. the quality is just not there anymore. What is also funny is in 8.33 there are black borders on video set to 720x480, in 8.4 they now have the source at 704x480 and black borders are mostly gone. To install Geo's DMMultiview and Remote Viewlog on a number of computers, its like pulling teeth. Ended up saving the reg and hosts etc from one I set up then wrote a small program that transferred that for the other computers I installed the software on .. There are just so many annoyances with it that I Cant take it anymore.
