That's just like Crazy Eddy. That's insane. Perhaps .. but they love it ps. its generally netbooks we "upgrade" ... which literally crawl with even their limited netbook win7 version on them. and im a speed freak so whatever does the job the fastest is what I go with ..
-
Im not going to defend Geo .. im moving away from them now anyway .. at least for analog. Seems they might be devoting more resources into IP NVR stuff .. The video quality on the new cards just suck compared to what Ive used before ... couple years ago it was actually good .. now .. dont know if its the codecs or what .. but the quality is just not there anymore, makes good cameras look like rubbish. I placed a $150 Dahua DVR next to it, plugged the same cameras in and it was 5-10 times better quality .. and yes the software worked on Windows 7 unlike Geo's DMMultiview and Remote viewlog which although they did work, could not render the overlay so everything was blocked and horrid quality.
-
Perhaps since you bought a brand spanking new computer and a new expensive OS its time to buy a new card? Just saying .. FYI the new cards are NOT the same as the old cards *in fact they are worse BOL!! Seriously though I would bypass all that and just get a Dahua DVR .. live and network video quality is much better than Geovision.

You mean, if you ordered a brand new 2600K \ GTX 470 system this weekend, that you would load it up with XP versus Windows 7? If so, let me get back up off the floor because I am laughing too hard. I "upgrade" computers all the time from Win7 to WinXP because Win7 just sucks. So yeah probably.
-
Strange since although my site is tiny compared to others and only gets 250K hits a month, I got XP at 39% and Win7 at 20%. Unknown is at 28%, probably various Linux builds. MS simply forces us to use their newer OS by working with device manufacturers to discontinue drivers for their older OS, thats the way its always been. Win7 is "prettier" .. granted .. but so is Ubuntu with is 10 times faster.
-
Yep, and by that logic, you might as well load up Windows 3.1 and get 1.5 second boot times, with the limited functionality that 3.1 provides as well. There are reasons we aren't running Windows 3.1 anymore... Not quite, XP has thousands of additional actually useful features that 3.1 did not. There is no reason to switch from XP to Win 7 however, infact you loose some features. Its all marketing BS just like with Apple.
-
What are you smoking? Win7 owns XP. And if you still need to run XP for testing, just launch a virtual version of it that is included free with Win7. My Win7 boot time is under 6 seconds, granted, that is with a Vertex3 SSD, but SSD's are no-brainers these days when you need performance on your boot\cache drive. XP is on its way out. LOL Its because of the computer you are using, put XP on that and boot time will be under 3 seconds XP is at least 20-30% faster, try Win7 on a slow PC .. it wont even work. win 7 is HUGE .. try fit a restore image on a 2GB jump drive? I agree XP is on the way out, but its not because Win 7 is better .. far FAR from it.
-
Certainly not in performance. Sales wise though its all one can get now. Windows 7 IS a bug, like Nortons IS a Virus. Geo should write for Ubuntu, it blows Windows 7 off the map

You have to install it on a computer first. then you can goto the folder to access the ini files, or copy it to run it from anywhere.

In my case it was thin sheet metal on either side with foam between it, I didnt even drill the holes for the screws in the case of the other housings, just screwed them in, I used the phillips head bit to drill through from one side to the other for some longer toggle bolts for this ceiling mount one (it was a big heavy dome housing), thats how flimsy that metal is. (only cause I didnt have the right size bit on the forklift at the time but hey). I caulked with 100% silicone caulking, hard to clean up but quick to dry and effective. I just caulked all the holes from the top and put some up the housing metal pipe in this case. Had to crawl about 30 feet or so from the edge of the cooler to get to the camera location from the top of the cooler, wading through an inch of dirt - they had these hangers supporting the cooler or something, could not walk up there, around 25' high. Basically caulking the main hole is what did the job and fixed the condensation issue. The CNB vandal domes have a rubber backing though and tight rubber sealed hole for the cable going out the back of it, which should do a good enough job in this case as that even tends to prevent water getting through. My problem in the past with one in direct exposure to heavy rain was the water seeping through at least 1 of the screw holes even with a rubber ring, but that wont effect anything in your case as you arent drilling the screws all the way through to the next side.

Goto Config, Option, Check the box that says "Save last monitor status" OR, in "UserLogin.ini", under "[LoginInfo]", set the following to 1: SaveLastMonitorState=1 This will only connect in Mainstream though, even if you were previously connected in Substream. If you want to use Substream (or Mainstream) you will need to create a task and then set it to Auto Start in the Options. Create a task by going to Setting Manage, Scheme Task Config, Monitor Task, NEW. Name the task, select the screen display (eg.9 way, 16 way, 36 way, etc), select a Window for this channel (will give you from 1 to the total display channels, eg. 1-36 for 36 way, 1-4 for 4 way). You will notice you cant edit "Device" and "Channel", to add a device channel move your mouse over to the Device list and double click a device to connect to (if not already connected). Then using your left mouse button select a channel and drag it to the "Device" box in the Task window; the channel number will then appear in the "Channel" box. You can then select the "Stream Type" for that channel, and click Add. Then close it all out and goto Config, Option, and check the "Auto Start Task" box and select the Task name from the drop down. There is an icon at the bottom of the main program that lets you pause or resume the task as well, the task being your custom screen display. Why they do it this way or call it a Task is beyond me, but it does work Task setup:

that would be a newer version

Make sure you dont already have that firmware installed. Dahua was sending DVRs with 2.606.xxxx from last year. Also typically it makes no real changes to the data, normally if anything might have to reset the time. But yes export the data incase you are worried. I cant say if importing it will or wont work with the updated firmware, depends on how old the existing firmware is.

Q-See QC444 DVR ActiveX won't work right with IE 9
rory replied to shaywood's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Try IE Tabs for Chrome, I find it actually works better inside that than natively in IE in my tests. IMO, even better though, should be using PSS so you wont be stuck in a limited web browser. -
i put CNB Box cameras in regular housings and they have almost a whole camera length still at the rear of it .. maybe that one is NUKE proof?

maybe the cars and building and everything else are just really small

GV 8.4 missing "Pelco Dome" in drop down list of PTZ Control
rory replied to stabbi's topic in Geovision
Im trying to figure out whats going on with Geovision these days .. its like they cant give their NVR software away, from 8.33 and up they removed the address book from Remote viewlog connect window, now when you click search from DM Multiview it opens Remote viewlog and opens the connect to but no address book .. I think they have lost it .. its a software company (thats actually getting paid), they should see the little details like that. And dont get me started on DMMultihell, have to connect to a DVR to actually edit/add hosts (without doing it manually in the registry) -
Ha ha so right ... actually anything below 70 Im just finishing off a cooler job actually and yes I should have known better .. big old videolarm domes with box cameras .. just added in 2 wall mounted and those were fine, added 1 old housing to replace a bullet and the only old housing they had left was a pole ceiling mounted (take too long to order new wall mount ones or new vandal domes) .. ofcourse the bullet was sealed .. now had the hot air up top coming down the pole into the dome housing .. condensation inside right away .. actually this part of the cooler is kind of warm as the air is off in that part, just bubble gum stock. Anyway had to go back on top and seal with silicone and as best I could from below into the pole .. will know in an hour if it did the job. Oh yeah its a 25 or so foot high cooler, a couple hundred feet long. Actually it was originally just supposed to be replacing 2 box cameras in existing dome housings (wall mounted), had I known they were going to have 3 actually added in there, having to use whatever extra old dome housings they had there unused, then I would have gone with the CNB vandal domes one time, way less headache.
-
It will probably be fine, its still inside a dome with a cover (though missing the rubber seal around the inside of the cover), but probably depends how cool the cooler is. Might want to check out the model similar to it but in a vandal housing with rubber seal and backing? Only a few dollars more. Im no expert on cooler installs though .. or cold climate. So might want to wait for someone else to chime in. Otherwise they work fine inside offices with the AC on freezing. http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1155

Adjust the focus then the zoom until it comes into focus, thats how they are, its still around 3mm when focused.

rory replied to alarmrepairman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
depends, if its activeX most let you enter parameters to set the user and pass and login automatically, if not activeX it depends on what it is. -
Looks like you are only connected with low colors for faster connection.. you would need to set the colors higher.

Connecting Siamese and CNB camera power
rory replied to gman's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Some of the CNB 12VDC domes also come with the green connector, it has a little + sign on one side of it. -

I believe you are correct, they also have red and black leads, just pointing out to the OP and Adam that with some of the CNBs polarity does matter. -

Some have the plug, not the green connector.
