  1. Thats only true for some of the CNB cameras .. without them posting the model number its best they use polarity.
  2. Yes. For example Dahua DVRs ... Can set brightness, contrast, saturation etc for 2 different time spans.
  3. I guess it depends where one lives but here and i guess out of Florida (as thats who I buy the gear from) and ofcourse Latin america, I dont see any move in that direction unless IP gear becomes much less expensive and most end users become network/computer gurus .. most people still want the cheapest thing they can get to just see a picture (not concerned with ID), and with $30 Color IR cameras and $150 full featured networked DVRs flooding the market now .. this if anything seems to be the direction its going IMO .. for now but ofcourse things change. For an end user why hire a $150 per hour IT guy when they can get the $70 per hour CCTV or Alarm guy to install the cameras. In fact with basic systems like that many end up installing it themselves or just hiring someone to setup the DVR and remote video side of it, both which dont take an IT guy to do so, most kids these days can do that basic stuff. And when they need someone to troubleshoot a system many end users might feel its probably best they call someone that has years of experience in the products they use instead of someone that just started or never used such products. Bottom line, although I see the market for higher quality cameras, I still see it being split.

    Need OPINIONS on DVR purchase

Yes they all have individual settings for each camera. D1 or CIF, CBR or VBR, Frame Rate, Bit Rate, and others. Each use a sub stream for the mobile devices. I tested it on the Ipad so maybe works on the Itouch if both are the Ios? Another example is you can set channel 1 at D1 30fps and then the remaining channels at CIF 30fps. BTW "pro" and "extreme" are just names that online store give the DVRs, it differs from one to the next and the actual manufacturer has their own names for them. Dahua calls it the LE-A, Gen IV calls it the Business class or G4-HDE, the distributor I get it from calls it the Slimline series, another calls it the Elite Mini ...

    Need OPINIONS on DVR purchase

4CIF = 704x480, D1 = 720x480 (NTSC) All the Dahua DVRs are the same in that regard, they are actually 4CIF but Dahua calls it D1 - its more like D1 cropped viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23200&p=138733#p138733
  6. This is the best I can get from that image using basic tools .. but then Im no expert on this ... looks like 18 ... but then the rest is hard to make out as that could be the curve/shadows in the lettering on the plate. and then there is this ... need a better image really .. PM me what you have

    Need OPINIONS on DVR purchase

Generally no, with a 2TB drive can get a decent enough recording time .. they only stock the slim ones here so thats pretty much all I ever install anyway, and they can fit on shelves easier ... the others would be special order but nobody came to me with those requirements yet other than the 1x 32 channel.
  8. I just installed a 32 channel Dahua DVR .. distributed under a different name in the US, many different brands resell their DVRs. It worked out well, was simple to setup, holds 8 HDD, or 6HDD and 1 Optical Drive (eg. DVD-RW). Its also rackmountable, lots of room to work inside, inexpensive for what it is. Has Composite, VGA, HDMI, E-sata, Redundancy, Audio, USB, IR Remote, Alarms, Serial, and is only 40w standard. 7fps D1 on each channel. It has powerful network software with features such as Offsite recording on motion events from the DVR, video alarm monitoring output to multiple PC Monitors, up to 64 way live view and multiple DVR connections. Also can change DVR settings through the Network software. Perhaps look at replacing what is there and starting fresh, sell them 2x32 channels and they can add more cameras later if they want. If they need real time D1 on each channel Dahua also make a 16 channel D1 real time unit, would need 3 of those though for 48 cameras. These are all H.264 compression, if you need higher quality recording need to search for some MJpeg type compression DVRs.

    Need OPINIONS on DVR purchase

They are Dahua DVRs, distributed through Gen IV (Intellicam), cant go wrong with them. That online store exaggerates it a little though, they ARE great bang for buck, though its still budget DVRs. Live and network video can be awesome, even better than Geovision, the recorded video is not as good but still good enough and much better than many others, easy to distribute as well. They have their CONs but the PROs outweigh those. The larger units allow for more than 1 HDD and also loop out and spot monitor. Network support for many different Operating systems including Linux. And yes these lower priced DVRs have got WAY better than they were in years gone by .. I was impressed when I got my hands on them for the first time last summer, since then installed a few of them including a 32 channel unit. In fact I use these over Geovision now, easy to install, plug and play, only took 3 minutes to setup the 32 channel for recording and network access! Just dont expect any amazing HD video .. these are still just analog DVRs, and the cameras are also part of the limitation. Their PSS Network software is easy to customize also which I like, and they have an SDK for programmers. See more about that here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23702 The DVRs save the video in a custom ".dav" format but PSS allows downloading and converting to AVI in recent versions, also there is a player which does converting to AVI .. or I made a custom version of that also available on my site (free) which only converts. They also have a program that reads the files from the HDD within Windows. The PSS software also allows offsite recording of motion detected events from the DVR, and alarm video monitoring out to multiple PC Monitors. And I have some sample videos and images on my website, the ones labelled Dahua
  10. Will probably be impossible, but would need the other raw images. Not sure if its a good idea to post them on an open forum though.

    Dahua 0804LE-A Recording

The newer firmware fixes some issues with perhaps other newer firmwares but depends on the model, if it works as it is then I would not worry too much about it. Seems they might be moving away from giving people firmware now, Ive seen alot of messages recently of them telling the users to contact the person they bought it from.
  12. Have you tried downloading and installing the Multiview program from the Geovision USA site? Also first uninstall it then remove the DMMultiview folder from the Program files folder. http://www.usavisionsys.com/download/downloadFile.php?category=1 First try and uninstall the DMMultiview program. Dahua firmwares

Looks like they might be going through some changes, they are telling everyone now to contact their buyer (guess they mean reseller) for firmware updates .. Im still waiting to hear back from an email sent to the contact I have been corresponding to there at Dahua. If I cant get updated firmwares from the manufacturer, I dont want to use it, as the resellers dont have the latest firmwares anyway, example there was a flickering in 9 way view on the 1U DVRs but an updated firmware fixed the problem, but they still sell them with the older firmware with that problem so have to flash all the 8-16 ch dvrs.

  16. Just try one of the Pelco options like Pelco D or whatever protocol your Pelco dome is set to.

    Netpromax 308???

Allegedly they are out of business Last year I needed software for an older unit like yours, they only had the newer software which needs a much faster computer. I tried everything else from for example comart but did not work. Ended up with the newer software but in CIF recording. I dont have it anymore though.

    ID this camera??

Wizkid/Extreme domes were typically round and used Alan lock-screws. This looks like an Everfocus ED150 http://www.everfocus.com/downloads/product_spec/Cameras/BW%20Cameras/EHD150.pdf

    ir illuminators on d/n cameras?

Translation for Soundy and Sawbones: The answer is yes, there are many methods of how IR works with Day Night cameras. For example, the IR cut filter over the chip to block the IR during the day for a better image, while removing it at night so the camera sees the IR light in the image. The IR Cut filter can be a physical part or the camera's DSP could digitally enhance the image for night and day. It is important that the Infrared Illuminator is turned on the same time the IR Cut filter is removed.

Looking for DVR with loop out

Dahua have DH-DVR0804LE-L with loop out, though if purchasing from a distributor or OEM it will be branded differently and called by a totally different model. Most of their non 1U models have loop out. CNB have an 8 channel with loop out also, not sure of the price though: http://www.cnbusa.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1117 Im sure there are others as well.
  21. Should get emails on motion as long as a couple things are done: under network, email: check the enable box, check the attachment box to send picture test succeeds under detect: check the box next to the channel number to enable motion detect, check the send mail box, check the capture box (for attachments), select the channel to capture Whats the firmware version, should be something like 2.606.00##.#
  22. Disable all the funky Win 7 graphics .. classic only, disable the taskbar thumbnail preview .. and do all the usual performance tweaks as done with XP .. other than that sounds like you have something else coming up on start up, maybe an Antivirus or Windows defender or some Win7 thing? Could also be something to do with screen res or some graphics thing .. lots of variables .. Geo should be ontop though when in full screen. You could always disable "Keep the taskbar ontop of other Windows" (XP, not sure of the wording in Win7)

    Dahua 0804LE-A Recording

Under Schedule, uncheck "regular" for each channel and day of the week Make sure you check the "Record MD" boxes for each channel and day of the week though or it wont record at all, and make sure the time period is 24 hours for each.
  24. Far as I know its a Dahua but they could have changed it. See any resemblance in this thread to the network software that came with it? viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23702 Does it look like this? If so its a Dahua. I havent had to update the firmware on that exact model yet nor do I have one here at home to check the firmware. But they do update them regularly to fix little bugs and perhaps on that model and that version there was one. I originally thought they all used the same firmware but just found out (luckily before I updated it) that those non HDMI units used a different firmware, and awaiting it now. Are you saying its not sending emails at all, or just not attachments with it?
  25. it uses the activeX control so yes could be an update, but then if its working in IE should work in that also. Make sure its the right version. Also remove and reinstall it again but clean up any geo related stuff on the PC, remove the multiview folder.
