Feedback On AVTech-4 channel Standalone DVR

which model?? -
yeah, what are you using to transmit the video? Without an amplifier/EQ anything over 50' is going to have video loss of image quality, unless you use an amp/equalizer. It still looks okay up to 500', say using a balun, but I personally would never use baluns again, only amped / eq's. Even at 150' with a balun (2 different brands) i can notice many issues. If I double up the video pair, could get better, but was trying to keep the extra cat5 for some add ons later. When I get the FM systems Camera Master, ill do some more research on the exact loss amounts. Check out both NVT and FM Systems for more detailed info on using Cat5 with CCTV. FM Systems has some great unbiased artcles on this. http://www.fmsystems-inc.com/articles.htm rory

hmmm..ok saw the typo change. when you say too bright in the center, do you mean from the infrared, or other lighting?

Embedded RTOS (NON PC) Nucleus, or Linux.

Yep, i have 2 UF500s, both are 10 degree, in this case its a driveway and i could have got away with just 1 10 or even a 30 degree..like you said, lesson learned. It was my first IR purchase 3 years ago.. do you have a copy of the beam patterns? If not, i can post it here. Rory

also check the photo shots here.. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/gallery/?go=&nid=&gallery=Extreme%20CCTV\

did you check the UF500's photo cell in the power supply if there is a level adustment screw? I can check when i go to the location here, next couple days..? Location also plays an important part to when the photocell turns the power on.

I never had a need to adjust it..why were you..? When the light goes off, the Infrared comes on Remember Extreme's IR products are designed for night time apps, where there is little or no light. Ofourse their Integrated cams like the Ex-82, has easy adjustments for all of this..you can adjust the IR level, swtching level to IR, switching level to BW..and more. They now have an Ex-80 lower cost, a WZ-46 with no IR, just Day night, and a ex27MNX that is a day night with 60-75' IR. Rory

Rory - It uses 750mA at 12V (does that answer your question on watts? I'm pretty ignorant on these things ). As far as materials, for the $34.95 you just get an assembled circuit board with the 72 leds and necessary resistors. The rest of the assembly (housing, photo cell, etc) is left for the purchaser. I never constructed a housing - I just powered it up and looked at the illumination with a cheapo ($150 retail) camera I had that came with installed 840nm LEDS (with the 840's disconnected). In total darkness I could see no glowing from the 72 LED board but through the camera it looked like I was shining a spotlight. I was totally impressed and wondered why the original manufacturer of the cheapo camera could not just install the 940nm LEDS . It doesn't seem like it would take too much for a person with a little electronics smarts to do something like this and I would think there would definitely be a market for this but apparently not. thats pretty good, as most cameras do not recognise 900nm's.

GE Kalatel KTC-2000DN - IR TO 1100NM range.. Exview True Day Night. 5-50mm AI Lens

only thing you should not do, is run 24vac in the same bundle as telco or data. though 24VAC can be run way longer that 12VDC. Always should double up the power on 50'+ runs.

deleting files from hard drive

who are we talking about..who can afford raid..? point is, if your clients, or yourself, have their docs, drivers & data on drive D:, then you can save alot of time when reloading the C: drive.. Average Hme PC: windows Xp backup docs, data, reformat, load windows, load drivers and software, update windows, nortons, etc, clean up, defrag and tweak, reload backed up docs (if the CD or jump drive is still good)...average time=6 hours. especially when they dont have a CDRW or USB doesnt work, or other issues from spyware/virus....arGHh... -

i hope you also realise the problems associated with wireless, in other words only use it if there is no alternative.. also, will you be using 2 or 3 DVRs..? You listed IP cameras, they use totally different software from a DVR- need a dedicated PC just for them... I have found VideoComm to be one of the most widely availlable for wireless video, and they have a large selection..might want to check them out also. They are a Canadian Manufacturer. www.videotransmitters.com Also, you will need a keypad controller for the Dome..and make sure American Dynamics DVR supports the phillips PTZ protocol. Problems can arrise when too many different brands are mixed up into one system..compatability issues.
